Blade description:

The Sardius is a legendary, high-performance offensive blade characterized by its extreme speed and stiffness. Built with a 3+2 construction featuring Tamca 5000 carbon, the blade is designed for power-oriented players who favor aggressive flat hitting, smashing, and counter-attacking. Due to its rigid nature, it provides a very direct, hard feel with minimal vibration, allowing players to deliver powerful, low-trajectory shots that are difficult for opponents to return.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Power: Renowned as one of the fastest blades available, it excels at providing “kick” upon impact. It is particularly effective for table-near blocking, punching, and aggressive third-ball attacks.
  • Feel and Feedback: The blade offers a very stiff, crisp sensation. While highly capable of generating spin, the lack of flex means it requires a high level of technical skill to maximize rotational output.
  • Weight and Dimensions: The blade features a larger head size (158×152mm) and typically sits in the medium-to-heavy weight range. The handle is often noted for being comfortable and accommodating for players with larger hands.

Recommendations for Optimization

  • Rubber Pairing: Due to the extreme speed and stiffness of the core, it is widely recommended to pair this blade with soft-to-medium sponge rubbers. Softer rubbers help “tame” the speed, providing a longer dwell time and better control during delicate shots.
  • Skill Level: This is not a blade intended for beginners or those currently working on foundational strokes. It is best suited for experienced, attacking-minded players who possess the technical confidence to manage a high-velocity, low-vibration blade.

My setup:

My experience with this blade:

This blade is incredibly easy to control, especially when executing backhand topspin. The blade practically “eats” into the ball and generates a significant amount of spin; I believe this is due to the hinoki surface.

The thickness and softness of the hinoki on this blade give me extra confidence when blocking. When using the Xiom Vega Europe on the backhand, I can feel the resistance when brushing the ball. With the Xiom Vega Pro on the forehand, I feel much less resistance; however, the ball is much quicker, and the spin generated is still amazing.

In short, this blade excels in speed, control, and feel. The only weakness I’ve found is its thickness, which can make it challenging to switch quickly between forehand and backhand.

This table tennis equipment offers very good speed. The control is moderate, and the fuse feels solid. It performs well when executing smashes.
