DHS Hurricane King III

DHS Hurricane King III - mainDHS Hurricane King III - composition

Blade description:

This offensive blade is a composite model featuring a 5+2 construction, utilizing glass fiber carbon layers. Designed to emulate the playing characteristics of professional-grade equipment, it offers an OFF+ to OFF performance level. The blade is noted for its high speed and power, yet it maintains significant dwell time, making it particularly effective for top-spin play, looping, and serving.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Feedback: Despite its composite construction, the blade is resonant and provides a tactile feel often compared to all-wood blades. It offers a moderate level of stiffness while retaining enough vibration to provide clear feedback to the player.
  • Versatility: While it excels in offensive exchanges such as counter-looping and hitting, it remains controlled enough for tactical play, including blocking and pushing.
  • Weight and Balance: The blade is generally manageable in weight. However, due to its properties, pairing it with excessively heavy rubbers can negatively impact the balance; light-to-medium weight rubbers are recommended for optimal handling.

Material and Build

  • Construction: The internal structure includes a thick balsa core, a secondary balsa layer, and outer plies of wenge, reinforced by glass fiber carbon.
  • Surface Maintenance: Users should exercise caution when regluing rubbers, as the top veneer can be sensitive. It is recommended to handle the surface gently or use fine-grit abrasives like a nail file to maintain the integrity of the top layer when removing glue residue.

The blade has perfect speed and control. The quality is the highest possible. I can perform all types of plays with the King3.

The blade does have vibrations. If you enjoy them, it’s perfect.

It produces a lot of spin for serves, topspins, and loops.

TIP: For users who use Chinese rubbers, don’t overtune them. The blade is already fast.

This blade shares a similar structure to the renowned N301, with the exception that the layer of ALC is replaced with glass fiber carbon. Like other models in the Hurricane King series, this blade is characterized by its hardness, which provides exceptional dwell time and prevents easy bottoming out. This is unsurprising given that these blades were designed to cater to Wang Liqin’s powerful forehand.

In comparison to ALC blades, the HK 3 may possess somewhat less speed, but the difference is minimal. Additionally, the HK3 exhibits a feel that is closer to pure wood blades. It serves as a viable alternative to the N301 for those who perceive the H301 as overly economical.

Currently, I utilize the CPEN version of the blade, outfitting it with Hurricane rubbers on both sides. This setup proves suitable for all types of CPEN play, encompassing both traditional penhold backhand (TPB) and reverse penhold backhand (RPB) styles.

Totally amazing! I’ve been playing with many different blades, including the Viscaria for a longer period, but this blade is simply superior. It has become my new choice.

I am surprised by the exceptional build quality of the King 3, which I’ve noticed in contrast to experiences reported by others. The quality is comparable to that of the Jun Mizutani SZLC.

Remember to be cautious and avoid purchasing fake products.
