Donic Crest OFF
Blade description:
This offensive-oriented composite blade features a sophisticated construction incorporating four stacked carbon layers, resulting in a high degree of stiffness and notable power. Despite its significant speed potential, the blade utilizes a Limba outer layer which provides a slightly softer touch and a higher throw angle, allowing for impressive spin generation on loops.
Construction and Feel
- Composite Structure: Features a 5+2 construction (utilizing four stacked carbon layers) that delivers a fast, rigid response.
- Surface: Limba outer plies offer a distinct, soft feel and enhanced dwell time that aids in spin production.
- Balance: The blade features an even weight distribution, contributing to a comfortable, maneuverable feel in the hand.
- Craftsmanship: Known for high-quality finishing, including smooth lenses and an ergonomically designed, comfortable handle.
Playing Characteristics
- Performance: Categorized as an OFF to OFF+ blade, it provides reliable speed for aggressive play, counterattacking, and finishing shots with ease.
- Control: Offers high consistency and a wide sweet spot, though it rewards players with sound technique; it may be less forgiving for players with poor stroke mechanics or inconsistent angles.
- Versatility: Capable of effortless power from mid-to-long distance, while maintaining enough touch to facilitate precise ball placement and effective blocking at the table.

Wow, this blade feels like an ALC and ZLC combined. It’s similar to outer ZLC blades from Butterfly (BTY) but with a higher arc.
The blade feels slightly soft due to the Limba outer layer. This is a fast blade that is very stiff due to the four carbon layers. The carbon layers are stacked on top of each other.

At first, I made a lot of mistakes switching to this paddle from an allwood blade. It’s a bit less forgiving with poor technique and bad angles. Once I adjusted and developed a better style of play, the control I experienced was outstanding, along with the spin and speed.
The spin is very good on loops, the best I’ve had by far, and very easy to generate. It’s easy to go on the aggressive and easy to put away high shots. Far back lobs from the table are almost unfairly effortless. However, newer players should get something with more control.

Paired the blade with Donic Bluestorm Z3 (2.1) on both sides. The speed and acceleration are impressive when required. The blade, combined with the Z3, can deliver remarkable power and speed. It offers excellent touch, feel, and control, allowing for effortless ball placement. Blocking is a breeze with this blade.
The handle is exceptional, providing a comfortable and secure grip. With proper technique, this blade has no discernible drawbacks. The sensation it delivers is outstanding, and the CREST OFF unquestionably belongs to the OFFENSIVE blade category, yet it maintains a commendable level of control.
The craftsmanship and overall quality of the blade are unparalleled, ranking it among the best, if not the finest. Without rubber, it weighs 88 grams, while it weighs 187 grams with rubber, which is an ideal weight for me. The blade is evenly balanced. There are no complaints about its performance. When compared to other blades of similar construction (carbon next to the outer layer), its price is quite reasonable.
