Loki Violent V9 Ebony Carbon

Loki Violent V9 Ebony Carbon - main

Blade description:

The Loki Violent V9 is an aggressive, high-speed composite blade utilizing a 7+2 construction featuring Ebony outer plies. Designed primarily for offensive play, it provides a powerful, direct trajectory suitable for topspin loops and smashes. Its performance characteristics favor an aggressive, proactive style, as the blade’s speed and hardness require precise, consistent stroke mechanics to maintain accuracy, particularly during passive or defensive exchanges.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Feedback: Despite its speed, the blade maintains a distinct, woody acoustic and tactile feedback. Vibration levels are moderate, offering sufficient connection to the ball for many users, though the feel can vary depending on the rubber type; it typically provides more feedback with Chinese rubbers than with European tensor rubbers.
  • Stiffness and Flexibility: While the blade is fast and powerful, it is not excessively stiff, possessing a moderate degree of flexibility that aids in creating spin and provides a noticeable “kick” when playing away from the table.
  • Performance: The blade excels in offensive looping and mid-to-long distance play. Because of its reactive nature, it is best utilized by intermediate to advanced players who maintain an aggressive, flat or topspin-oriented attacking style.

Construction and Design

  • Composition: The blade incorporates a complex layered structure including Ebony (Black Sandalwood), Ayous, Paulownia, and soft carbon layers.
  • Handle: The flared handle design is noted for its ergonomics, offering a comfortable grip that deviates from the thinner handles often found on similar blades in this price range.
  • Weight: Out-of-box weight is approximately 88 grams.

I use this blade with DHS Hurricane 3 and Nittaku Fastarc G1 rubbers.

After using the Loki Violent V9 Ebony Carbon blade for two months, I found it to be hard, speedy, and lacking in control. I couldn’t feel the ball well at all.

As a cheap outer carbon blade, it offers good value for money. I recommend this blade only to intermediate or advanced table tennis players.

Updated review after spending more time with the blade: It’s a great blade for the price, very linear, and although fast, it’s quite direct and manageable to control. It feels a bit woody, so if you’re switching from a wooden blade to a carbon blade, you might like it.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the blade has enough vibration feedback and overall feel when paired with Chinese rubbers but lacks a bit of feel with European tensors. This is an issue because, overall (like with other less flexible blades), it plays better with European tensors.

In that sense, it’s similar to other Chinese blades at this price point, like the Yinhe Pro-01, just a bit more flexible. As such, I can only recommend this blade to intermediate players who have a bit of a flatter playing style. If you’re a beginner, this will be too fast for you, and you are likely to develop bad habits. If you’re an advanced-level player, I feel like there are better blades for you, even in this price bracket—for example, some Stiga blades.

Lastly, I would like to highlight the handle of this blade. Typically, Chinese blades don’t have the best flared (FL) handles; they are either too thin or too thick. This one definitely stands out, and I had absolutely no issues using it.

This is a very fast, aggressive blade.

You need to have perfect strokes to place the ball on the table as you would like. It tends to go over or into the net if you are lazy or haven’t done a perfect movement due to its hardness and the carbon.

I only recommend this to very experienced players.
