Composite/carbon
Really good blade but only for aggressive players. Paired with Battle 2 but as mentioned, if you destroy your opponent by your attacking game, it’s his nightmare. On the other hand, you cannot play passively.
Violent 9, from Loki, is a fantastic high-end blade at this price level. It’s constructed with wood and soft carbon, featuring a 9-layer composition: Black sandal, Ayous, soft carbon, Ayous, black palownia, Ayous, soft carbon, Ayous, black sandal.
It provides an excellent feel away from the table with a good kick. It’s compatible with Euro rubbers, hybrid rubbers, and Chinese rubbers (with tuning). The blade boasts a great finish and a satisfying wood feeling, accompanied by a pleasant wood sound when hitting the ball.
Recommended for high club level, competition, elite, and professional players, the Violent 9 offers significant power and speed. Compared to the Butterfly ZLC, it exhibits slightly less speed but provides enhanced control.
This is a really good blade for the price. I played a couple of games with a Tenergy 64 rubber, and it was fast, almost the same speed as my ZLC blade with a Tenergy 05. It has a bit of vibration and is not very stiff.
The sound is very woody, which may not be to everyone’s taste. I prefer rackets that sound like bricks when you hit the ball. However, performance-wise, this is a very good buy. It is good for looping away from the table and still provides good control for shots on the table.
The blade I received was 88g out of the box with a shakehand flared handle.
I can feel the impact position of the ball. This high-speed blade provides an aggressive feeling when attacking with topspin.
The Ebony tree’s layers with carbon are tough, providing a more potent blow. This blade is designed for fast spin attacks.
This is a very fast, aggressive blade.
You need to have perfect strokes to place the ball on the table as you would like. It tends to go over or into the net if you are lazy or haven’t done a perfect movement due to its hardness and the carbon.
I only recommend this to very experienced players.
Updated review after spending more time with the blade: It’s a great blade for the price, very linear, and although fast, it’s quite direct and manageable to control. It feels a bit woody, so if you’re switching from a wooden blade to a carbon blade, you might like it.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the blade has enough vibration feedback and overall feel when paired with Chinese rubbers but lacks a bit of feel with European tensors. This is an issue because, overall (like with other less flexible blades), it plays better with European tensors.
In that sense, it’s similar to other Chinese blades at this price point, like the Yinhe Pro-01, just a bit more flexible. As such, I can only recommend this blade to intermediate players who have a bit of a flatter playing style. If you’re a beginner, this will be too fast for you, and you are likely to develop bad habits. If you’re an advanced-level player, I feel like there are better blades for you, even in this price bracket—for example, some Stiga blades.
Lastly, I would like to highlight the handle of this blade. Typically, Chinese blades don’t have the best flared (FL) handles; they are either too thin or too thick. This one definitely stands out, and I had absolutely no issues using it.
I use this blade with DHS Hurricane 3 and Nittaku Fastarc G1 rubbers.
After using the Loki Violent V9 Ebony Carbon blade for two months, I found it to be hard, speedy, and lacking in control. I couldn’t feel the ball well at all.
As a cheap outer carbon blade, it offers good value for money. I recommend this blade only to intermediate or advanced table tennis players.
