DHS Fang Bo Carbon table tennis blade

Blade description:

The DHS Fang Bo Carbon is a remarkable table tennis blade designed for players seeking a balance of speed, control, and spin. With its 7-ply construction, including the innovative use of carbon, it delivers an impressive blend of power and finesse on the table. Measured at a thickness of 5.9mm, this blade strikes a harmonious balance between weight and performance, coming in at a moderate weight of approximately 90 grams, suitable for various playing styles.

The composition of the Fang Bo Carbon features an outer limba layer known for producing excellent spin, complemented by strong carbon fibers that enhance speed and stability. This design results in a blade that retains a solid feel, giving players the confidence to execute precise shots. Reviews indicate a stiffness rating of 5.4 and a hardness of 6.6, suggesting that while the blade is firm, it also allows for a touch that mimics a traditional wooden blade, especially beneficial in the short game and close-to-table situations.

Flexibility is moderately low, which may pose challenges for players accustomed to more forgiving blades. However, this stiffness contributes to the high speed rating of 9.3, making it ideal for aggressive looping and smashing from mid to long distances. The DHS Fang Bo Carbon is often compared to other high-end blades, such as the Ma Long 5, but it comes at a much more accessible price point, making it an excellent value for competitive players. For those seeking alternatives, blades like the Butterfly Viscaria or Stiga Infinity may be comparable but typically come at a higher cost. Overall, the DHS Fang Bo Carbon is highly recommended for experienced players looking to enhance their game without breaking the bank.

I really like this blade, specifically for its low throw angle and good precision. Coming from the Korbel, it feels pretty controllable. However, it definitely has much more power than the Korbel.

Excellent blade for heavy loops. Great speed and spin to overwhelm your opponent. Best part is the unmatched feeling of control and confidence on your shots.

Actually using the cpen handle. I was using a 5-ply wood blade before this one (Stiga Emerald VPS V). This blade offers a significant upgrade in terms of speed. Close-table bananas and counter backhands feel fantastic.

However, the blade performs best when used at mid-far distances, at least for my playstyle. It’s not too heavy nor too light (mine weighs 86g). The vibration is low, especially for an ALC blade, providing just enough feedback to feel the ball.

The blade produces a low trajectory and a somewhat flat ball feel. If you desire significant spin, you’ll need to commit, as it requires activation of the ALC layer. Overall, I believe I made a wise choice considering the price.
