Yinhe 989

Blade description:

This blade is a fast, offensive-oriented option designed primarily for aggressive playstyles. It excels at delivering high-velocity topspins and smashes, providing sufficient power to pressure opponents consistently. While it is marketed as a fast implement, it remains balanced enough to allow for precise shot placement when paired with the right rubber combinations.

Performance and Construction

  • Construction: This is an all-wood blade.
  • Playing Characteristics: The blade is characterized by a high-speed output that facilitates powerful attacking shots. It provides a distinct, “bullet-like” trajectory on forehand drives and smashes.
  • Tactical Versatility: While it supports aggressive attacking, it is also functional for players using short pips or deceptive rubbers. Its performance in the backhand depends largely on the user’s technical adaptation, though it is considered serviceable for Reverse Penhold Backhand (RPB) despite not being specifically optimized for that technique.
  • Feel and Handling: Users report a high level of enjoyment during play, noting that the blade feels responsive and capable of handling various styles, from traditional loop-drive setups to complex defensive/deceptive combinations. Its weight distribution and handle configuration are generally suited for players looking to transition into shakehand-style play or adapt their penhold game for modern attacking requirements.

I am a Jpen player who primarily uses a 1 ply hinoki blade. I made the switch to Cpen to improve my twiddling and RPB skills, but I was not satisfied with the results.

Out of the blue, I came across this blade. It is moderately effective for RPB (not exceptional but not poor either; it depends on your personal adaptability). I equip it with 802 40 on the forehand side and 563 on the backhand side. This combination has resulted in significant development and improvement in my game.

The forehand side, fitted with short pips 802 40, provides exceptional speed. For deceptive play, I employ the 563 and twiddle to disorient my opponents. Overall, this blade is well-suited for fast attack playstyles.

I bought 2 blades and changed them to shakehand handles. For backhand loops and topspins, it plays like a charm. As for forehand, the topspin and smashes are like bullets — unstoppable.

I love this blade for both its price and characteristics. I paired one with yellow AK47s on both sides, and the other with Tibhar El-P and MX-S. I love it! ðŸ˜
