Andro Roxon 330

Rubber description:

The Andro Roxon 330 is a soft-sponged tensor rubber designed to prioritize control and dwell time over raw, high-speed power. Featuring a non-tacky, grippy topsheet, it excels in scenarios requiring finesse and accuracy. Players will find it particularly effective for opening loops, slow spinny attacks, and controlled blocks, as the rubber allows for easy ball engagement even at lower swing speeds.

Key Playing Characteristics

  • Spin and Control: The soft sponge provides significant dwell time, making it highly forgiving for opening loops against backspin. While it provides excellent spin for technical, controlled shots, the spin potential tends to decrease as the player increases swing speed or moves further away from the table.
  • Speed and Dynamic: Despite the tensor technology, it is generally considered a slower, more manageable offensive option. It possesses a noticeable catapult effect, but it lacks the top-end speed required for aggressive long-distance play. It is widely considered superior for close-to-the-table play and flicking, where placement and accuracy are paramount.
  • Durability and Physical Build: It is a notably lightweight rubber featuring a soft, sensitive topsheet. Users should be aware that the soft composition of the topsheet can lead to accelerated wear, with some reporting a loss of performance characteristics after several weeks of heavy use.

This rubber is widely recommended for backhand usage or for developing players who require a high-control tool that simplifies the transition to attacking play. Due to its balanced nature and forgiving sponge, it is a versatile option for recreational players looking to improve their consistency.

Wow! This is an amazing rubber with extraordinary control and an exceptionally soft sponge.

Physical:
This rubber features a light-colored sponge paired with a very soft top sheet. It is exceptionally lightweight and has a grippy surface, though it lacks tackiness. Additionally, it comes well-packaged and displays the ESN tensor logo.

Spin:
As with most soft rubbers, the spin generated at low swing speeds is very good. You don’t have to exert much effort to initiate play after a heavy backspin. The grippy top sheet facilitates easy lifting with just a flick of the wrist. The spin excels in opening loops, slow spinny loops, and controlled near-the-table loops. However, as you increase swing speed and move further from the table, the spin—like that of most soft rubbers—begins to diminish rapidly.

Speed and Control:
Again, the rubber shines when used close to the table, excelling in various aspects. However, as you play further back, some of its advantages are lost. The rubber provides solid speed and remarkable control on blocks. Flicks also showcase significant speed, as the rubber does not deform excessively during these shots, leading to excellent placement.

Recommendation:
I would primarily recommend this rubber for the backhand side. It is particularly suited for developing and recreational players. If you are between the ages of 10 and 15, this rubber could be an ideal choice, as it can enhance control and speed, which is beneficial given limited swing speed at that age.

Have fun and enjoy table tennis!

This is a good backhand rubber; however, it can also be effectively used for the forehand. I find it to be superior to Plasma 380.
