The Andro Rasant Powersponge is a versatile table tennis rubber that combines impressive spin, speed, and control, making it an excellent choice for players seeking to enhance their game. This rubber features a medium-soft sponge composed of innovative tensor technology, which helps generate significant spin and power without sacrificing precision. This combination allows players to execute powerful topspin shots while maintaining exceptional control, particularly during offensive play near the table.
The tackiness of the Rasant Powersponge is relatively low, rated at 2.3, which means it is less grippy compared to some higher-tack options. However, this characteristic contributes positively to its performance in quick exchanges and blocking scenarios, as players can utilize its speed for effective counters. Weighing in at 3.9 (medium weight), the rubber does not burden your blade and keeps the overall setup manageable during play. One of the rubber’s standout features is its durability; rated at 8.4, it withstands regular use while maintaining performance characteristics for a prolonged period, making it one of the most enduring rubbers in its class.
Alternatives to the Rasant Powersponge include options like the Andro Rasant Turbo for enhanced grip, or the Evolution FX-P for those seeking a different feel. However, many players report that the Rasant Powersponge provides a balanced experience that negates many weaknesses found in competing products, making it a strong choice for players looking to elevate their backhand and looping game. With an overall rating of 9.3, the Rasant Powersponge is highly regarded for its performance and effectiveness, establishing itself as a formidable asset on the table.
Review:
I got this rubber for my backhand. My backhand is pretty weak, so I hoped the low throw angle would help me. And I was right! The throw angle is very low, compared to my Evolution FX-P. This makes fast play close to the table without any spin very easy and effective. Directing the ball becomes natural.
What about topspin? Topspins on underspin balls are a bit difficult at the beginning, because of the low reject. I have to use my shoulders more than before. But they are very spinny and hard to block! Topspins from mid-distance to far from the table are easy. You can put all the power you want in your ball, and it will always go on the table! The low throw angle makes blocks very effective.
To sum up, this rubber has a very low throw angle, good spin and control, maybe even more than Evolution FX-P. The speed is not insane, but it’s still fast. Overall, it’s a good rubber.
Update: Finally, my backhand has improved a bit. I’m more regular on my loops and topspins, and they’re more effective too. After comparing it with my forehand rubber (Rasante Grip), I find the reject to be medium-low to medium. This rubber has really helped me to improve my backhand stroke. It’s sad that its production is over. I hope I’ll find a similar rubber, maybe the all-new V42.
Durability: I’ve had this rubber for 7 months and the quality has practically not decreased. So far, this is the most durable tensor I have owned, after the Samba+.
Perfect combination of spin and control.
I use this rubber on my backhand on an all+ blade. This rubber has good speed and is amazing at blocking, possibly the best blocking rubber I’ve used. Looping is really good.
It lasts a very long time before it dies. After that, it’s pretty much useless. However, flicking is easy, and I can lift backspin really easily in loops. Nice job Andro :).
