Butterfly Tackifire Special-Soft
Rubber description:
This is a hybrid rubber featuring a soft sponge paired with a tacky topsheet. It is characterized by its significant versatility, making it a reliable choice for all-round to offensive-minus players who prioritize consistent ball placement and high-quality spin over raw, explosive speed.
Playing Characteristics
- Spin and Dwell: The rubber generates substantial spin through a combination of its mild tackiness and a soft sponge that allows for extended dwell time. This makes it particularly effective for looping backspin and controlled attacking, though the high throw angle can require adjustments when returning sidespin serves.
- Speed and Control: It operates at a controlled, moderate pace, offering a very low catapult effect. While it is not designed for all-out speed, it provides sufficient power to finish points when paired with a faster or harder blade. Users frequently highlight its exceptional control during blocks, chops, and touch play.
- Physical Properties: The rubber is noted for being somewhat heavy, which may affect the overall balance of a racket. It exhibits good durability, though it requires regular maintenance with cleaning agents to prevent the surface from feeling “dead” over time.
Ideal Usage
This rubber is well-suited for intermediate players or those transitioning from defensive, chop-heavy styles to an offensive-oriented game. It functions effectively on both the forehand and backhand, offering a stable, predictable performance that helps players build confidence in their looping and defensive mechanics.

A nice rubber that is a perfect trade-off between speed and control+spin. I use this on my forehand (FH), and Flextra on my backhand (BH) on Joola Rosskopf emotion carbon. It has pretty good control, though smashes are returned by opponents. Looping is a breeze (although I rely mostly on smashes and started learning looping with this rubber).
I still need to perfect my loops as the balls are returned by opponents, but usually as a lob. So it takes mostly two strokes to finish. It is slightly heavier than Flextra, so sometimes I feel more drag on the FH. It would be really good if BTY could make this as light as Flextra. The heaviness is the reason why I went for Flextra on the BH. Otherwise, I would have gone with Tackifire Soft itself. Thanks to BTY.

This rubber is suitable for chopping with sufficient speed for counterattacks.

I use this rubber for my forehand and I must say it’s a very controllable rubber with good spin. It’s not the fastest rubber, but it’s fast enough to finish points. It’s worth the price. Also, you should pair it with a harder blade.
