The Donic Bluestorm Z1 is a high-performance table tennis rubber that delivers exceptional speed and spin, making it a favorite among aggressive players. Designed with a hardness level of 47.5 degrees, this rubber’s unique composition allows for explosive power while maintaining a high degree of spin. Players who thrive on fast-paced, offensive styles will appreciate the Z1’s capacity for generating swift attacks and intricate topspin, with many reviews praising its ability to turn the tables during intense rallies.
In terms of tackiness, the Bluestorm Z1 is relatively low, rated at 2.1 on the tackiness scale, which allows for a more direct, powerful shot without the drag of overly sticky surfaces. This characteristic, combined with its lighter weight of 5.6 grams, ensures that players can maneuver quickly and adapt their strokes with agility, making it an excellent choice for those looking to enhance their game speed.
Durability, however, has been a point of concern for many users, as the rubber shows signs of wear after just a few hours of play. With a durability rating of 6.4, it may not withstand the rigors of frequent or heavy use as well as some alternatives on the market. For players who prioritize longevity in their equipment, considering options such as the Donic Bluestorm Z2, which offers a bit more control and stability, may be advisable.
Overall, the Donic Bluestorm Z1 is ideal for experienced and advanced players who can effectively harness its power. Its exceptional speed, combined with the potential for generating incredible spin, makes it a standout choice for players looking to dominate in competitive settings. However, for those still refining their skills, it may prove to be a challenging rubber to master.
Fantastic rubber for backhand. It’s a little slower than Z1 Turbo (but still fast) and very controllable. Punches and loops are fast and/or spinny. Blocks are fantastic too.
One of the fastest 47.5 rubbers, this rubber is light and has a softer feel. On a press test, it feels like a 42-degree rubber because the top sheet is soft and elastic.
The catapult is just crazy intense. You need good technique to play with this rubber, as stated on the Donic website.
It has very little dwell time. The arc is low and long. Blocking is not automatic; you must work on blocking and go over the ball.
Lifting backspin is a bit harder because of the lower throw. The repulsive force of the sponge is very strong, so the ball doesn’t have much time on the rubber to get maximum spin values. However, the speed is there, and it has maximum values.
If you play with this rubber correctly, you will be rewarded. It is for advanced users only.
I’ve been using this rubber since 2017, so I believe I know it very well. I’ve tested it with various blades occasionally and have permanently used it with the DHS Hurricane Bo2.
It’s a highly aggressive rubber with limited dwell time, demanding good ball control and precise technique. I currently use this rubber on both sides of a Hurricane Long 3.
In close-range play, it tends to launch the ball high and long, hence the need for good ball control. Simply touching the ball with the topsheet provides consistency and spin in touch play, serve, and receive. Blocking with this rubber is acceptable, but it requires precise handling.
Attacking with this rubber is remarkable. It grips the ball and propels it outward swiftly. The speed can be exceptional without sacrificing spin. My coach also uses this rubber instead of Tenergy 05. For me, it lasts approximately three months, which is the average durability based on my usage.
I highly recommend it for intermediate and professional players. For beginners, I suggest Z2, which is slower and offers more consistency.
