Donic Coppa X3 Silver

Rubber description:

The Donic Coppa X3 Silver is an impressive table tennis rubber designed for players seeking exceptional control and a high degree of spin. This rubber boasts a medium sponge hardness, offering a balance between responsiveness and comfort during play. Its construction allows players to execute powerful topspin strokes while maintaining a solid touch for precision shots. The X3 Silver scores an impressive 9 out of 10 in spin and control, making it an ideal choice for those looking to enhance their all-around game.

In terms of tackiness, the Coppa X3 Silver offers a relatively low traction level, rated at 1.9. This feature contributes to its unique playing characteristics, allowing players to generate spin without excessive grip, which can occasionally lead to unpredictable ball behavior. This makes the rubber particularly effective for blocking and short reactive shots, which are vital for maintaining control close to the table. While its throw angle is classified as low, many players appreciate the precision it gives when executing controlled strokes.

Weighing in at a medium level at 2.4, the X3 Silver provides a lightweight feel, which many players find appealing for endurance during long matches. The durability of this rubber is rated at 7, suggesting that it will maintain its performance over time, although perhaps not as long as some higher-end alternatives. For players seeking alternatives, the Coppa X3 can be compared with other renowned options like the Butterfly Tenergy series or the Donic Acuda line. Overall, the X3 Silver delivers excellent performance, particularly in terms of control and spin, making it a solid addition to any player’s arsenal.

Good offensive rubber. It’s not as fast as the X1 Turbo or other high-speed rubbers, but it has very good spin and nice control that will make your topspin attacks confident and spinny.

Due to its lower speed than, for example, the X1 Turbo (I was using it, but the control was too low for me), you can easily attack from serves and other hard positions with high spin.

Using an offensive blade.

I have been using this rubber for a year in the 2.0 mm black version on backhand, paired with the Donic Epox Powerallround blade. I bought it for 30 euros.

This rubber has average speed (it is not slow but not fast enough for me), a low throw angle, and gives a significant amount of spin (more than its pair, the Donic Coppa X2). It has a very soft sponge and topsheet, which gives it a strange combination of characteristics.

In my opinion, this rubber is not good for smashing. Due to a slightly mushy feeling and long dwell time, the ball contact is sometimes too long and causes a misfeeling, which can lead to mistakes when hitting and looping. The topspin strokes on the table are executable, but away from the table, they are very difficult because of the low throw angle.

On the other hand, the backspin and flick strokes are very comfortable and controlled with this rubber, especially the flicks, which can make problems for opponents. The blocks are low and fast, uncomfortable for opponents, but need adjustment, otherwise, they will go into the net.

Serves are also good with this rubber, but need a higher throw-out from hand because of the soft sponge and topsheet.

Generally, this is an interesting rubber with some good and bad characteristics. Whether it will be good and suitable for someone depends on their playing style.

2013-06-26:

I recently purchased this rubber, intending to use it on my backhand. However, I couldn’t resist trying it with my forehand as well. It’s not an ideal forehand rubber because it’s difficult to loop with. However, if you connect with the loop, it generates significant spin. The ball trajectory is low, though.

I’ve primarily used it on my backhand, as intended. It’s a good backhand rubber, suitable for blocking and hard-hitting away from the table. It’s also effective for flipping. I’m satisfied with its performance as a backhand rubber.

As others have mentioned, the throw is very low. That was a primary reason for my purchase. Occasionally, the ball falls into the net because of this, but I assume it’s something that can be adjusted to over time. The Coppa x3 also serves me well for backhand looping.
