Nittaku DO Knuckle Long 1

Rubber description:

Based on the name “DO Knuckle Long 1,” this table tennis rubber is almost certainly a long pips-out rubber designed to disrupt the opponent’s game with knuckleball effects and unpredictable returns. Long pips rubbers are characterized by tall, thin pips that bend and flex upon impact, reversing spin and creating dead balls. The “Knuckle” in the name strongly suggests a focus on generating a knuckleball effect, meaning minimal spin on the ball, making it difficult for the opponent to predict its trajectory and spin. The “Long 1” could indicate a specific pip length or a version number within a series, but without further information, it’s impossible to be precise.

This rubber likely prioritizes control and deception over speed and spin generation. While it can be used for attacking, the primary goal is to disrupt the opponent’s spin and force errors. Expect relatively slow speed, low spin capabilities (especially topspin), and high control when blocking and pushing. The long pips will absorb incoming spin, making it easier to block powerful loops, and the resulting return will often be spin-reversed or completely dead. This rubber is best suited for defensive players who play close to the table or mid-distance, utilizing blocking, chopping, and pushing to frustrate their opponents.

Without specific information on sponge hardness, it’s difficult to provide an accurate estimate. However, long pips rubbers often have a soft or medium-soft sponge to enhance control and dwell time for spin reversal. The special feature is undoubtedly the long pips themselves, designed to generate knuckleball effects and spin reversal. The “DO” prefix might hint at a specific manufacturing process or material used, but without further information, this remains speculative. Ultimately, the DO Knuckle Long 1 is designed for players seeking to disrupt their opponents with unpredictable returns and a defensive style of play.

Best long pimples I’ve ever tried, good control, incredible attack, and so nice for the push game. Chop is so spinny but it’s hard to chop inside the table. I don’t recommend playing defense inside the table like chop-blocking style, but it’s better than using medium pips for knuckle.

I first used the DO Knuckle with a 0.5 mm sponge on a Neottec Kanji Def. I made a switch from soft rubber on the backhand to medium pimples rubber because I no longer have good mobility. Right from the start I liked it because I could use the technique I had with soft rubbers. In my opinion, compared to the Nittaku DO Knuckle Long 1 with 1.2 mm sponge, it requires less training to adjust the shots and is less dangerous for the opponent. Possibly with a thinner sponge, it would play differently. So, we are waiting for a good offer from TT11 :) to do some more tests. Good luck in tournaments and a Happy New Year!
