The Nittaku Hammond Z2 is celebrated as one of the premier table tennis rubbers available today, crafted specifically for elite players seeking maximum performance. With a unique topsheet characterized by its small, dynamic hills, the Z2 offers incredible spin and speed, making it a top choice for aggressive loopers. Its blend of technologies provides sensational feedback to the player, making it feel alive during play, while its impressive speed rating of 15 and spin rating of 13 testify to its high performance in competitive environments.
When it comes to tackiness, the Hammond Z2 measures around 2.2, offering a balanced grip that enhances spin without compromising speed. Players have noted its medium-weight classification at approximately 3.6, suitable for those who prefer a well-rounded rubber that doesn’t overly weigh down their paddle. Though durability is often a concern with high-performance rubbers, the Z2 shines with a durability rating of 8.8, ensuring that it can withstand the rigors of long matches and competitive practices while maintaining its excellent playing characteristics.
For players considering alternatives, some have compared the Hammond Z2 favorably against notable rubbers like Tenergy 05 and Dignics 05, asserting that it provides superior speed and control. While it may come at a higher price point, players feel it represents exceptional value for its performance, particularly for advanced players. The Nittaku Hammond Z2 challenges traditional rubber performance, heralding a new era in table tennis with its exceptional combination of speed, spin, and control, making it a top contender for anyone serious about improving their game.
Hammond Z2 is very hard to control, especially in sponge max. With this issue, I think it is too difficult to provide a good review for the Hammond Z2.
So-so average rubber, nothing special. It’s fast with a very small dwell time. Spin is also not the best compared to hybrid rubbers like Bluegrip C2, Stiga DNA DragonGrip.
Basically, speed of a Max Payne with spin of Tenergy. Well, it’s more complicated than that. Let’s talk about it.
So, I’ve had this rubber for five months (one season); usually, it’s time for a new one. Well, no, the factory tuning is gone, and due to that, the topsheet has shrunk a bit. It still plays like it did after one month, so good durability! It feels like a bouncy 50-degree rubber, not very comparable to other rubbers in my opinion. Yeah, it is fast! I played 2.0, and it was very quick; it still has plenty of dwell. Also, the throw angle is quick, and the arc is long. I find this good for mid-distance only. I really struggle when attacking against topspin close to the table. I really have to close my blade’s angle down. Serves are good, 8/10, compared to Hurricane 3 National.
I like this rubber; I’ll try something new when this one dies.
