Nittaku Hammond CR

Rubber description:

This rubber is a classic, lightweight offensive sheet featuring a medium-hardness sponge that provides a bouncy and reactive feel. It is characterized by its grippy, supple topsheet and a moderate catapult effect, making it highly effective for close-to-the-table counter-attacking and blocking. Because of its lively nature, it requires precise stroke mechanics and racket angle control to maintain accuracy during high-impact shots.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Spin: The rubber offers good speed and solid spin potential for topspin loops. While it performs well in mid-distance play, its stability can decrease under maximum power, where it may experience a drop in spin and trajectory consistency common in softer-feeling rubbers.
  • Control and Dwell: Known for high control on mid-impact shots, this rubber excels in touch play, flicking, and returning serves. It produces a medium-low, straight trajectory rather than a high arc, which assists in quick, aggressive placement.
  • Setup Recommendations: Performance is significantly influenced by the chosen blade; it is frequently recommended for use on stiffer, faster carbon blades to reach its full potential, though it remains a versatile option for various offensive setups.

High quality product from Nittaku at a very attractive price. Medium hardness, good grip, and excellent control. An excellent option for those who want to play with good professional equipment without overpaying for expensive brands.

Excellent lightweight FH rubber. Good grippy top sheet. Medium sponge hardness perfect for looping. Quite good lasting given the value.

Very similar to Flyatt Soft with its soft, bouncy sponge and bouncy/grippy/supple topsheet. The bounciest and most reactive sheet I have ever played with. Difficult to control. Racket head angle, stroke form, and body position should be near perfect or you will overshoot the table A LOT. Incredibly soft/slow hand needed for pushing and chopping. Could be good for close to the table countering, but you will still need the quickness to get your racket positioned right.

There is a good review on YouTube that demonstrates its away from table power, but again (and you will see if you watch) stroke form is critical.

Jokingly, I am curious about the VA sponge version that is reportedly even bouncier only to satisfy my curiosity as to whether there can be a rubber even bouncier than the regular CR and WHY? Anyone would want such a monstrosity?
