Way too slow to be useful for a modern game!

This rubber is only suitable for beginners. Not even tuning can improve its speed beyond 2.1 sponge.

DHS H2 Pro Table Tennis Rubber Review

Previously using DHS H2 for both backhand (BH) and forehand (FH), my H2 Pro arrived with a #20 sponge (39Deg ±2, 2.2mm orange). I found it to be noticeably heavier than the regular H2.

Despite its weight, I believe the Pro version surpasses the H2 in overall performance. It offers enhanced control, making it easier to loop under spin. Additionally, its construction is impeccable. However, I did find it slightly slower than the H2, which proved beneficial as it allowed me to land more shots. To maximize its potential, it’s crucial to engage both the rubber and sponge effectively.

While not particularly suitable for flat shots, its performance in blocking is noteworthy. Passive blocking is not recommended; instead, punch blocking or push blocking techniques are more appropriate. Nonetheless, it provides excellent control for backhand side spin fade blocks.

Overall, this rubber truly excels when played with good stroke technique, an active-attacking style, and athletic footwork. If your playing style aligns more with European or Japanese styles, this rubber may not be the best fit.

Downside:

  • Requires technically sound strokes to avoid being punished by the rubber.
  • Indecisive shots will be detrimental to performance.
  • Demands proficiency in countering various spins, making it challenging for beginners and intermediate players.

Yasaka Pryde

Compared to Double Happiness’s Hurricane 2, I found the Yasaka Pryde to be slower but offered more spin and control. It even felt slightly unresponsive when blocking heavy topspin drives. In contrast, my coach noted an increase in power when I switched to the side with the Pryde.

Despite its qualities, I favor the Skyline 2 over the Pryde. Additionally, while it may be my perception, I noticed a gradual decline in the rubber’s tackiness and spin over time.
