Nittaku Hurricane Pro 3
Rubber description:
This rubber is a sticky Chinese-style sheet featuring a hard, traditional sponge (notably the #20 sponge in 39-degree hardness). It is designed for players who utilize a traditional Chinese playing style, characterized by heavy spin generation and controlled, tactical play. The surface exhibits a high level of tackiness, though its mechanical grip and speed characteristics can evolve significantly after a break-in period or through the application of boosters.
Playing Characteristics
- Speed and Dwell: The rubber is inherently slow out of the packaging and often requires boosting to reach its full potential, as it was originally intended for use with speed glue. It offers a shorter dwell time compared to premium, professional-grade versions of the Hurricane line.
- Spin and Control: Due to its sticky top sheet, it excels in spin-heavy defensive play, such as chopping, while remaining capable of initiating counter-attacks. Its firm sponge provides the stability required for consistent placement and control.
- Suitability: It is well-suited for defensive specialists or players who prefer a traditional Chinese rubber configuration. Some users find it effective for the backhand (BH) due to its controlled nature, although preferences for its hardness vary among players accustomed to faster, tensioned alternatives.

I can’t really tell the difference between this and the normal DHS Hurricane 3. If anything, this one felt worse. I do tend to prefer hard sponges though.

Good for backhand.

Very soft and not as good as the ordinary Hurricane 3 or Neo. Not much grip.
