Nittaku Soulspin Project 12 (P12)

Pleasant Japanese rubber, aimed at intermediate to advanced players. However, I believe even a beginner who is starting to develop a good technique can use it. The sponge is linear and feels softer than the rated 52°.

Very similar to Hammond Z2, you can read my review of it and roughly apply it to P12. Actually, the only weak point is that Z2 outperforms it. Nevertheless, P12 remains one of the best Japanese rubbers on the market, offering versatility and balance.

Nittaku Fastarc P-12 Review

I recently purchased this rubber (red) to use with my basalt outer blades. I couldn’t find any reviews about it, so I bought it without any expectations, except that it would be faster than my current rubber.

Initial Impressions on Forehand

As advertised, it offers both speed and control. It has a medium throw, making it easy to execute all strokes. It takes a few days to break in, but after a couple of weeks of use, its overall quality and capabilities become evident.

Performance Update

I now play with P12 2.0 on both sides of an all-wood 5-ply blade, using the Nittaku ball. Lifting BackSpring is effortless, and strong rotational action requires minimal brushing. Blocking is exceptional, and generating strong counter drives against forehand or backhand loops is easy.

Durability

The rubber’s durability and performance remain impressive after approximately 120 hours of play.
