Tibhar Nimbus

Tibhar Nimbus - packageTibhar Nimbus - sponge

Rubber description:

This is a tensor rubber designed primarily for offensive play, characterized by a significant catapult effect and high-velocity output. It is well-suited for aggressive attacking styles, excelling in smashes, fast blocks, and flat drives. While it provides substantial speed with relatively low physical effort, its high responsiveness can make it challenging to handle in the short game, where touch shots may inadvertently pop up due to the rubber’s quick, energetic ejection.

Playing Characteristics

  • Speed and Catapult: Known for being exceptionally fast, it often provides a noticeable “click” sound and a rapid, rocket-like launch off the blade.
  • Spin and Dwell: It is capable of generating decent topspin for looping, though it is generally viewed as less spin-heavy compared to premium alternatives. The dwell time is relatively short, as the ball tends to sink into the sponge and eject quickly.
  • Control: The rubber is best paired with hard-feeling blades to stabilize the high catapult effect. Control is considered high for mid-distance attacking, though some users find the unpredictable nature of the bounce makes it difficult for delicate pushes or touch play.
  • Versatility: While opinions on its longevity vary, the rubber remains popular for both forehand and backhand use among aggressive players who prioritize pace and counter-attacking capabilities over extreme spin manipulation.

Uncontrollable Rubber

This rubber is among the fastest (9.7) that I have used. However, it has an unpredictable and unpleasant catapult effect that makes it difficult to control.

No Sponge Construction

This rubber does not have a sponge layer. It is made of an elastic caoutchouc material that is suitable for entry-level players.

Strengths

  • Smashes
  • Topspins

Weaknesses

  • Cuts
  • Blocks
  • Loops

Price

The price of this rubber is not justified at $10, in my opinion.
