Tibhar Genius Sound

Tibhar Genius Sound table tennis rubber

Rubber description:

The Tibhar Genius Sound is a highly acclaimed table tennis rubber that seamlessly blends control, spin, and feel, making it a top choice for players looking for precision in their shots. Designed with a focus on providing a softer touch, the rubber features a sponge hardness of 2.7, which offers a significant catapult effect and excellent dwell time, allowing the ball to sink into the sponge for enhanced ball control. This unique combination allows players to execute powerful topspins while maintaining the finesse required for delicate shots.

In terms of tackiness, the Tibhar Genius Sound has a rating of 2.7, providing sufficient grip for generating spin, particularly during serves and aggressive pushes. While some players may find the rubber slightly less tacky compared to the more stickier options, it compensates with its forgiving nature that simplifies learning and execution, making it a solid choice for intermediate players. The rubber’s weight is categorized as medium, making it versatile enough for various play styles without compromising on speed or control.

Durability is another strong suit of Genius Sound, boasting a rating of 7.4, ensuring that players can enjoy the rubber’s performance over an extended period. Many users report that it retains its original characteristics even after intense play. For those considering alternatives, the Tibhar Genius Sound can be compared with other popular rubbers like the Rakza 7 or the Tenergy series, but many reviews suggest that its superior control and excellent sound when striking the ball set it apart. Overall, the Tibhar Genius Sound is a standout choice for players who prioritize control and touch in their game, whether for all-around or attacking styles.

Review after 3 Years of Use

This review is based on my experience using Andro Tempertech All+ with Genius Sound on both sides for the past three years.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The rubber excels in generating topspin, but it produces less spin for loops. It also performs well for smashes and pushes, although not as effectively as tacky rubbers.

Transition from Galaxy Moonpro

Previously, I used Galaxy Moonpro on my backhand (BH). Its durability issues prompted me to switch to Genius Sound on the BH as well. A minor adjustment—allowing the ball to sink into the sponge before swinging—facilitated the transition.

Characteristics

Genius Sound is not a fast rubber, potentially due to its pairing with a wooden blade. It may perform more speedily on a carbon blade. However, it boasts exceptional control. Inbound spin tends to bite into it slightly, but playing with it over time allows for adjustments.

Recommendation

This forgiving rubber is highly recommended for intermediate-level players.

Thank you,
Ganesh

This rubber is very bouncy and sensitive to incoming spin. However, it is not suitable for backhand pushing. I have used it on my forehand with a DHS PG7 blade, and I did not like it. I would not recommend it for purchase.

Great rubber from Tibhar! It offers very good speed with great spin and control. I use it on both FH and BH. It is very good for an all-round/attacking style of play. It gives you a great feeling for the ball with a big dwell time.

However, it is not as good when playing with a plastic ball, mainly because I cannot play good first slow spin. But this could just be me.

Its durability is 10/10. I have been using it for a year now and it is “like new”, even though I play 8 hours a week. It is a soft rubber, so the edges fall off easily.

I would recommend it to both beginners and advanced players.
