Tibhar Rapid is a versatile and well-rounded table tennis rubber, designed to cater to players seeking a balance of speed, spin, and control. With a speed rating of 95 and a similar spin and control rating, this rubber excels in various playing styles, making it suitable for both recreational and competitive players. The soft and bouncy sponge allows for excellent mechanical spin, which significantly enhances the player’s ability to generate rotation on the ball, providing a dynamic and responsive playing experience.
In terms of tackiness, Tibhar Rapid has a rating of 3.2, indicating a moderate level that aids in spin creation without excessively slowing down the ball. The weight of the rubber is categorized as medium (4.1), making it easy to handle while also offering the necessary stability during play. Players find its durability to be commendable with a rating of 7.5, ensuring that it maintains performance over an extended period, even with regular use.
For those seeking alternatives, Tibhar Rapid competes favorably with traditional rubbers like Mark V; however, players should note that it may exhibit a lower throw angle, which can complicate certain shots, particularly when looping underspin. This rubber particularly shines for players employing Chinese strokes, especially on the backhand, making it an excellent choice for aggressive second-ball attacks against short or medium serves. Overall, Tibhar Rapid is favored by a range of players for its all-around capabilities and exceptional spin potential, making it a worthy addition to any player’s arsenal.
I tried this (unglued) on a couple of different blades, all in the Off-/Off category. As advertised, the sponge is soft and bouncy, providing quite a bit of mechanical spin. The dwell time is high but is very dependent on the blade used.
On a Hunter Power Touch blade, the hang time was good; however, the very low throw angle was frustrating, making it challenging to loop underspin. Conversely, counter-looping and blocking loops were easy. Your experience will depend on what you’re looking for. I was hoping for an upgrade from Mark V rubbers, but this particular rubber did not meet my specifications.
Update: I tried the max version on a Nittaku blade (hard/stiff), and I noticed a big difference. Counter-driving away from the table was excellent, with a nice arc and good dwell time. However, near the table, it wasn’t as effective. This makes sense since the spin is all mechanical and the sponge is on the softer side, meaning the ball needs to bury itself in the sponge for maximum effect. The throw angle remains low.
It is a very good all-around rubber.
This rubber is excellent for executing Chinese backhand strokes. For those who want to attack short or medium serves with a second-ball backhand, this is the perfect rubber. It provides exceptional spin when used with a specific stroke.
