Table Tennis Rubber Review: XIOM Omega 1 on 2.1mm Red Stiga Carbon Blade
Short Distance:
The XIOM Omega 1 is an excellent all-round rubber for all types of shots, including chop, topspin, and blocks. It performs exceptionally well when looping in the short game.
Long Distance:
For long-distance play, this rubber delivers strong loop shots and has the ability to produce heavy spin from topspin blocks or heavier hits. However, it may lack some speed for average players unless they are prepared to add some muscle to their strokes.
Topspin:
The rubber offers good, heavy topspin and demonstrates the ability to counter-hit topspin effectively.
Chop / Push:
It provides good, steady, and consistent push shots, with the capability to produce heavy chop or blocked chop.
Comparison - Hexer +:
While it is similar to the Hexer +, the Omega 1 lacks the speed needed to drive through opponents effectively.
Recommendation:
Overall, the XIOM Omega 1 is a good rubber available at a low price, making it an excellent choice for attacking players.
I play defensively, and I have been using the TSP Balsa Fitter 2.5 for my forehand.
This rubber provides very good spin and has a characteristic sound that reflects off the ball nicely. I find it to be very controllable, making it easy to play both close to the table and at mid-distance.
Additionally, it offers a good balance of performance and affordability, which is rare for this class of rubber. Overall, I am very happy with my choice.
Don’t be fooled by the label ‘spin’; this rubber is more focused on control. If you want to truly experience the spin it offers, it’s best to pair it with a wooden blade. When used with a carbon blade, it tends to lose its spin potential.
Average rubber. Spin is not its strong point, but control is good.
