Butterfly Power 7

Butterfly Power 7 - main

Blade description:

This blade is an all-wood, 7-ply construction designed primarily for offensive play close to the table. It is distinguished by a compact head size, which facilitates quick maneuvers, counter-attacking, and rapid topspin rallies. Users consistently report high-quality tactile feedback, noting that the blade provides a precise sense of the ball despite its potential for speed.

Playing Characteristics

  • Style: Optimized for aggressive, close-to-the-table hitting and tactical play.
  • Feel: Offers a highly regarded wooden feel with good ball-to-blade communication, which assists in both blocking and controlled push shots.
  • Versatility: While it excels in high-speed, flat-hitting, and counter-attacking exchanges, it retains sufficient control for players to transition into tactical variations, including short-game chops and pushes.
  • Performance: Requires an active swing and energy transfer to fully unlock its power potential, particularly when paired with high-performance rubbers.

Handling and Build

  • Handle Design: The flared handle is frequently cited as exceptionally comfortable, allowing for quick transitions and agile racket maneuvers during play.
  • Construction: As a 7-ply wooden blade, it is sturdier and faster than typical 5-ply options, making it a preferred choice for players who prioritize speed and directness over extreme dwell time. It is generally recommended for experienced players, as its speed may prove challenging for those still developing fundamental strokes.

My Power 7 is a ~20-year-old veteran - repaired a few times from smaller injuries, such as a slightly broken neck, but is still a monster. My fingers actually curved their way into the wood. But it’s a family member, so… :D

I just love the feeling of this blade. Its responsiveness and control give me the confidence to execute my shots with precision. It excels at counter attacks and looping when playing close to the table, making it a formidable weapon for aggressive players. I have paired it with Tibhar Nianmor on the forehand and Stiga Boost TX on the backhand, creating a combination that perfectly complements the blade’s characteristics and enhances its performance.
