Stiga Boost TX is a highly regarded table tennis rubber that appeals to offensive players seeking speed, spin, and a high level of control. With impressive speed ratings of 94 and spin ratings of 91, this rubber is designed to enhance aggressive gameplay while still allowing for finesse in shot placement. The light weight of 3.2 offers players a nimble feel, contributing to quick reactions and dynamic playstyles.
In terms of tackiness, the Boost TX features a moderately tacky surface (rated 2), which aids in generating spin during serves and topspins, but may not be as grippy as some alternatives. Its medium-hard sponge (5.2) provides a good balance of responsiveness and dwell time, enabling players to execute powerful smashes as well as controlled loops. However, many users have noted that the throw angle tends to lean lower, which can complicate looping heavy underspin shots, requiring players to adjust their techniques.
Despite excellent speed and spin, the durability of the Boost TX is a point of contention among users. While several players report good longevity with minimal degradation, some have noted that signs of wear such as cracking may appear after extensive use. Alternatives to consider for players in search of similar performance might include the Stiga Boost TC, which offers a softer feel, or other well-known rubbers like Tenergy 05 for those prioritizing higher throw angles. Overall, the Stiga Boost TX remains a popular choice for players seeking a fast, spinny rubber that excels in aggressive play yet offers sufficient control for a variety of strokes.
This rubber is very fast and light, making it suitable for attackers only.
I bought this because I believed the sponge was medium, but it’s actually medium-hard or possibly a bit firmer. The spin is not great for low power shots, as the ball cannot sink into the rubber. This rubber generates insufficient spin for my efforts.
The throw is very low, making looping difficult. However, it is fast. It is challenging to achieve an arc with the ball like you can with products such as Tenergry 05. This rubber has similar speed and spin qualities to DHS NEO SKYLINE TG 2.
It’s important to note that I have only used this rubber for a day. I may update this review as I gain more experience with it.
The rubber is of top quality, but it has a low throw, which makes it difficult to loop effectively. This makes it a good choice for smashers, blockers, and power players, but not for players who rely on looping. Overall, the rubber is of good quality, but it may not be suitable for all players.
