Donic Burn OFF

Blade description:

The Donic Burn OFF is a high-speed, all-wood blade constructed with a mahogany outer layer. It is characterized by significant stiffness and a notably large sweet spot, offering performance comparable to many composite blades while maintaining a wood-based feel and flexibility. The blade is primarily designed for pure attacking play, excelling in active blocking, counter-looping, and direct hitting or smashing.

Performance and Feel

  • Speed and Stiffness: Generally categorized as a fast, powerful blade, though user assessments vary from OFF- to OFF+ depending on playing style. Its rigidity provides a solid, stable feel that resists the impact of larger 40+ plastic balls.
  • Touch and Control: Provides a medium touch that remains consistent even during high-velocity play. While it offers enough control for short-game utility, some users find that its stiffness can reduce the feedback required for highly spin-oriented shots compared to more flexible alternatives.
  • Compatibility: Performs effectively with a variety of rubber types, including softer rubbers and harder, tacky variants.

Design and Build

  • Grip: Features a flared handle that is widely regarded for its comfort and ergonomic shape, making it suitable even for players with larger hands.
  • Durability: The build quality can be variable. The mahogany outer plies are relatively fragile and prone to splintering, often requiring light sanding at the edges to prevent damage during regular use.

Started to play after a long time and got this blade. What can I say? The handle is very comfortable and also suitable for big hands. The quality is really good and sweat-absorbing.

It’s a fast and stiff blade, good for smashing and direct play. But for short, short games, it lacks control and feeling. I can recommend it for attacking players, but for spin-oriented play, it lacks feeling in my opinion.

FL grip is the most comfortable I’ve tried so far. This is a positive aspect of this blade. Speed is another advantage, Burn OFF is fast as hell and still keeps a medium touch compared to carbon blades such as Ovtcharov Carbospeed. However, I would not recommend it for all-round controlled play, as this blade is better suited for pure attacking players. The Mahogany outer layer is fragile and must be sanded at the edges, otherwise it starts to splinter. Overall, a good blade for the budget.
