Donic Defplay Senso V3
Blade description:
The Donic Defplay Senso V3 is an all-wood, oversized blade specifically designed for modern defensive play. Known for its high level of control and excellent vibration feedback, it provides a distinct “woody” feel that is highly responsive during delicate defensive shots like chops and chop-blocking.
Playing Characteristics
- Flex and Dwell: The blade is characterized by a significant amount of flex, which promotes high dwell time. This allows for excellent spin production when looping and provides the necessary “taming” effect for long-pimpled rubbers on the backhand.
- Speed and Versatility: While categorized as a defensive blade, it performs as an allround (ALL/ALL+) tool. It is relatively slow on passive shots, allowing for excellent dampening, yet possesses enough power to finish points with aggressive loops or smashes when paired with an appropriately fast offensive rubber on the forehand.
- Balance and Feel: The blade features a hollow “Senso” handle design intended to enhance sensory feedback. Due to the oversized head, the blade is often top-heavy when equipped with standard inverted rubbers; players may need to consider the weight and thickness of their rubber sheets to maintain a balanced center of gravity.
Physical Features
- Construction: All-wood composition.
- Handle and Finish: The blade is available in straight and flared options. Users report that the finish can be slightly rough around the wings, occasionally requiring minor sanding for comfort. The handle shapes are specific, with some players noting the flared handle can feel narrow or uniquely shaped compared to standard models.
- Sensitivity: The wood is noted for being somewhat sensitive to impact, requiring care to protect the edges during regular play.

This is a very good blade for chopping and counter-spinning. It has a really high dwell time when you hit the ball hard and produces just enough speed to finish the point.
I really loved playing with it, especially with a fast, hard tensor rubber on the forehand. You could really feel more of the rubber in every aspect.
The flared handle is quite wide, but not particularly thick, so it has a slightly weird grip at first, and twiddling is not easy. In my opinion, this blade is not meant for low-friction blocking pimples on the backhand. Instead, it prefers a backhand rubber with a thick, soft sponge.
Again, because the dwell time is so high, this blade produced the most spin I’ve found in any blade while still having good speed and control.

Good defensive blade. It is not too heavy.

Mucho control, suena hueco y como un cartón. Pero te permite atacar. El plato es más grande y aún así es más liviano.
Translation:
Lots of control, sounds hollow and like cardboard. But it allows you to attack. The blade is larger yet still lighter.
