All-wood
Good blade, but the flared handle is too narrow and has a weird shape.
When looking for a blade to match the Grass D.Tecs, you will find reference to this blade. It can “tame” that rubber as well as being highly versatile and fantastic for chops.
However, this blade has a lot of flex. When using it, I found blocking very fast incoming balls, and the return would fly off at an unpredictable trajectory. Perhaps this is due to my lack of technique, and I’m used to stiffer blades, but I didn’t find this blade suited to my natural game.
Just my experience; if you’re anything like me, then consider the Tibhar Stratus Power Defense or Yasaka Sweeden Guardian, which are stiffer and slightly faster alternatives.
Wonderful blade for me, a revelation really. Fast enough on hard strokes to finish points, amazing control with inverted and long pips. I use it with Xiom Vega Pro 1.8 and Spinlord Stachelfeuer OX and twiddle as often as needed with this light, versatile setup.
I miss the feel of Hinoki, but I love keeping everything on the table! I have two, and changed the straight handle on each to a jpen handle that I sanded down.
I definitely feel it is better to put an aggressive rubber on a slower blade like this versus trying to slow down and control a fast blade with tamer rubber choices. Still a beginner and new to defensive blades, but very happy with it and highly recommend it!
This blade excels in aggressive defense or as a controlled all-around blade. While a bit fast for hardbat use, it’s not too noticeable. The blade is top-heavy with sponge rubbers, so it’s recommended to keep the thickness at 1.5mm or less. Pairing it with Juic Elite Defense 1.5 and pips for backhand creates a versatile setup.
It offers excellent control for chopping, hitting, looping, and blocking. However, the speed is slow-medium, requiring good technique for loops and smashes to generate speed. Some light sanding is necessary to remove sharp edges from the bottom of the wings. The long dwell time produces great spin.
If you’re weary of setups that are too fast, this blade is worth trying to enhance your shot placement and increase the number of winners. While the vibration is relatively high, the FL handle is comfortable. Some players may prefer reducing the wing size to improve balance and feel. Overall, it’s a good control blade at a reasonable price point.
I bought my second Defplay Senso V3 only one month after I got the first one.
The control is superb. The deception is great. I put a Sauer and Troger Hellfire X on it; they are like couples. (See my review on Hellfire X.)
The block is great too. I hardly need to close the paddle when a fast loop is coming towards me. I never regret buying it. It’s my primary weapon!
