Donic Persson World Champion 89
Blade description:
The Donic World Champion 89 Persson is an offensive, high-performance composite blade designed for the modern table tennis game. Featuring a 3+2 construction that incorporates Zylon Carbon (SZLC) fiber, this blade is recognized for its significant power and speed while maintaining a large sweet spot. It is engineered for advanced players who possess sound technique, as it requires a high level of skill to manage its explosive potential effectively.
Performance and Characteristics
- Speed and Power: Classified as an OFF to OFF+ blade, it delivers exceptional speed and penetrating power, making it well-suited for aggressive looping, smashing, and counter-attacking.
- Control and Feel: Despite its high-speed profile, the blade offers surprising control and ball placement precision. Users report a unique, soft touch and a distinct feel, often compared to premium SZLC blades, which aids in short-game control and blocking.
- Construction: The blade utilizes a composite structure with Spruce and Kiri plies, creating a stiff yet responsive feel. It is known for its high-quality craftsmanship and aesthetic design.
- Weight and Handling: The blade generally carries a substantial weight—typically around 98–102 grams—which contributes to its stability and power output. The handle ergonomics are noted for being comfortable, facilitating effective maneuvers like backhand flicks.
Technical Recommendations
- Rubber Pairing: The blade performs well with a variety of rubbers, though many players prefer medium-soft to medium-hard tensions to maximize dwell time and spin potential. It is highly effective for both topspin-heavy loops and flat hitting.
- Skill Level: Due to its speed and performance requirements, it is strictly recommended for intermediate to advanced players. Proper technique is essential to harness the blade’s full capabilities and ensure consistent play.

Power in quantity, but not at the expense of feel. It’s excellent if you want to hit hard from a distance, but it also maintains remarkable control up close.
The touch is impressive. Of the WC 89 series, it is definitely the most powerful.
Not the easiest in all situations, but far from impossible to manage. I don’t think it’s a good choice for those without experience.

Excellent craftsmanship and high quality materials.
This blade is fast, yet still offers good control.
Thank you, TT11.

A great blade, but not for beginners. It offers a lot of power and a good degree of control.
It resembles the Waldner blade from the same series, but with more muscle.
