Nittaku Narcus

Blade description:

This all-wood blade is designed for offensive play, offering a balance between speed and control that makes it suitable for both beginner and intermediate players. Its performance characteristics allow for effective play at varying distances from the table, with versatility that adapts well to different rubber selections—specifically showing strong synergy with softer rubber sheets.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Feedback: The blade provides a distinct level of vibration, allowing players to feel the contact of the ball, which aids in spin production and touch-based play.
  • Stiffness and Speed: While it provides sufficient offensive speed, it is not categorized as overly aggressive, maintaining a predictable arc that prioritizes consistency.
  • Weight and Balance: The blade features a light overall weight and a balanced center of gravity, which assists in maneuverability during rallies.

Physical Build

  • Construction: This is an all-wood blade with a slightly thicker profile. It is well-constructed with a high-quality finish.
  • Handle Design: The flared handle is notably compact, adhering to a smaller grip profile typical of certain Nittaku designs. Players with larger hands may find the handle size restrictive, while it remains comfortable for those preferring a smaller grip.

This blade is light, fast, and controllable, depending on the rubber used. The handle is slightly small. The blade is balanced and has a nice finish. It pairs well with soft rubbers. Overall, it’s a pretty nice blade.

This is a very good blade that offers a great balance of speed and control. It responds well when paired with softer rubbers, making it a good choice for players who prioritize control during their matches.

I made this bat for a player who I coach at my club. I assembled it with Vega Pro and Mark V. He plays really well with it. The blade is not too fast and has a fair amount of control. The handle is a bit small for my liking, but he has small hands so it doesn’t matter. It’s a good blade for beginners/intermediate players. It’s a lower quality than the Nittaku blades, but very much useable.
