Blade description:

The Nittaku Septear Lead is a meticulously crafted table tennis blade that boasts remarkable attributes, making it a popular choice among players seeking a balance of speed and control. This blade features a 7-ply construction, renowned for its combination of quality materials, including a hinoki outer layer, which enhances its feel and playability. The Septear Lead measures 6.2mm in thickness and weighs approximately 80 grams, categorizing it as a lightweight, yet robust option suitable for aggressive playstyles.

In terms of performance, the Nittaku Septear Lead offers a speed rating of 8.5 and an impressive control rating of 9.2, alongside a stiffness rating of 3.6 and hardness of 4. This blend ensures that players can execute powerful shots while maintaining excellent control during fast exchanges. The blade’s flexibility allows for substantial dwell time, making it easier to generate spin on serves and loops, a feature that many users have praised extensively in their reviews.

For those seeking alternatives, while the Septear Lead holds its own, players often compare it with other well-regarded blades such as the Butterfly Viscaria and the Darker Hinoki series. Though the competition is fierce, the Nittaku Septear Lead stands out primarily due to its high-quality craftsmanship and versatility with various rubber types, including aggressive Chinese rubbers and softer, faster tensors. Overall, this blade showcases a harmonious blend of attributes that can appeal to offensive players looking for both responsiveness and finesse in their game.

A great bat with excellent build quality. It’s well-made and durable.

I have the jpen version. This blade offers ample control without sacrificing speed, and the handle is exceptionally comfortable. I often switch between this blade and my Darker Hinoki blade, indicating its exceptional quality.

On the jpen blade, instead of cork, a smoother wood top layer is utilized on either side of the handle where the lower blade connects. Initially, this might feel unusual for a penholder, but I believe it facilitates easier spin generation on serves when employing a relaxed grip. If necessary, make minor adjustments to the phrasing.
