Nittaku Latika
Blade description:
The Nittaku Latika is a high-quality, 5-ply all-wood blade designed for all-round to offensive play. Renowned for its excellent build quality and fit and finish, it is frequently compared to higher-end Nittaku models like the Acoustic, offering a similar playing experience at a more accessible price point.
Performance Characteristics
- Speed and Power: The blade sits in the ALL+ to OFF- range. It provides enough power for mid-distance play and aggressive looping, though it is not as fast as 7-ply or composite alternatives. It offers a balanced, reliable speed that remains predictable during technical exchanges.
- Feel and Control: The blade is noted for its high level of control and “alive” feel, characterized by slight, tactile vibrations that help players sense contact with the ball. It features a Limba outer veneer, contributing to a touch that is generally perceived as soft to medium-hard, making it highly effective for looping, blocking, and short-game placement.
- Flex and Stiffness: While it possesses some flex to assist in generating spin during top-spin loops, it remains stable enough to handle flat hitting and smashes. Users note it is slightly stiffer than some traditional all-wood blades, which adds a bit of sharpness to offensive strokes.
Physical Attributes
- Handle and Balance: The blade is often described as having a comfortable, longer-than-average handle. The head size is relatively large, and the weight distribution is generally neutral, though it can feel slightly “head-heavy” depending on the specific assembly.
- Composition: This is a classic 5-ply all-wood construction (Limba-Spruce-Ayous).
- Compatibility: Due to its linear and predictable performance, it pairs well with a wide variety of rubber types, including both traditional spin-oriented rubbers and modern tensioned offensive rubbers.
Note: The top veneer is thin, so applying a blade sealer is recommended to prevent splintering.

Mine is light, as I requested. Consequently, it has a lower arc and plays almost like balsa. Really good for close-to-table play. If you are a looper, go for a heavier example as mine is 78g, very light for a Latika. Very nice blade, excellent for pips players.

Light, well-balanced offensive blade with an all-wood character. It produces more than enough power.

Normal blade. I expected something better from Nittaku. All shots are performed regularly. For me, a blade suitable for those who want to start with this sport.
