The Nittaku Barwell Fleet is a top-tier table tennis blade known for its exceptional blend of speed and control, making it a favored choice among advanced and offensive players. Crafted with a composition of walnut outer plies and glass fiber layers, this blade stands out for its unique combination of stiffness and flexibility, offering the feel of a wooden blade while incorporating the benefits of composite materials. With a thickness of 6.1mm and weighing around 88 grams, it provides a well-balanced experience that players can rely on during intense matches.
The Barwell Fleet showcases medium-fast speed with outstanding control, boasting an impressive rating of 9.4 in control and consistency. Players report that this blade excels in various aspects of the game, including looping, smashing, and blocking while allowing for fine-tuned touch shots. The feedback from the blade is rich, with a pleasant vibration that enhances player engagement without being intrusive. Many users highlight its versatility, stating that it can handle everything from aggressive shots to delicate touches, depending on how you wield it.
For those seeking alternatives, the Barwell Fleet can be compared to blades such as the Butterfly Timo Boll ALC and the Donic Ovtcharov. However, many players suggest that the Nittaku offers superior control and a larger sweet spot. While some may find the price point on the higher side, the craftsmanship and performance quality justify the investment for serious competitors. Overall, the Barwell Fleet embodies the excellence expected from Nittaku, making it not just a blade but an essential tool for enhancing one’s table tennis game.
The blade is excellent.
Excellent blade for anti-spin rubber, short pips, or even long pips rubber.
I’ve played table tennis for about 6 years and during all those years I have only used all-wood blades (Korbel, Stiga Clipper, Nittaku Acoustic). After 6 years, I felt like I was ready to get a faster blade. I have researched all the forums, group chats, blogs, and YouTube channels. In the end, I have shortlisted 2 blades: Viscaria and Marcos Freitas ALC (formerly known as Michael Maze). I was very close to buying one of them, but at the last minute, I had a second thought about Nittaku as my last blade was Nittaku Acoustic and I liked it very much, I thought Nittaku must have more good blades, so I went on tabletennis11 and looked for Nittaku blades and started reading the reviews of a couple of Nittaku blades, and one of them was Barwell Fleet. I read a lot of very good reviews. I then went onto other table tennis forums to see what other players think about it and read more positive opinions about this blade and the vast majority were very happy with it. One day I saw that this blade was on sale 50% off and I bought it without thinking twice. And now I am the most satisfied with my blade that I have ever been. This blade is a work of pure harmony between speed, feel, and control. And that is all you want in a blade. It has all the speed you need, the feel like it’s your hand and the control that lets you place the ball with millimeter accuracy. It’s a shame that Nittaku does not have the publicity and popularity of Butterfly; they truly deserve that, but this blade is as good as any blade anyone thinks is the best in his/her opinion. I have not owned many blades in my 6 years of playing, but I have tried many in the clubs I went to and none came close to Barwell Fleet. It’s a shame that I still have not tried the Viscaria or the Marcos Freitas blades that I initially wanted to buy just to compare with mine. I am sure I will try them one day; however, my hesitation to impulse buying and loyalty to Nittaku has repaid me with the best blade I could have. I hope it lasts a long time. Thank you Nittaku and tabletennis11 for finding me the blade of my dreams.
