Blade description:
The Nittaku Adelie is a 7-ply all-wood blade featuring a traditional Limba-Ayous composition. Unlike thicker, heavier 7-ply blades, the Adelie is characterized by a thinner profile (approximately 6.0–6.2mm) and a relatively low overall weight. This construction results in a blade that balances agility with the structural integrity expected of a 7-ply design.
Playing Characteristics
- Flex and Feel: The blade exhibits a distinct, noticeable flex, particularly during backhand strokes. While it retains the core characteristics of a Limba-outer 7-ply, it offers a softer contact feel compared to many rigid counterparts.
- Versatility and Control: It is highly regarded for its controllable speed, making it suitable for technical and aggressive playstyles. It accommodates a wide variety of rubber types, including short and long pips, while maintaining enough stability for spin-oriented looping.
- Compatibility: The blade is noted for its compatibility with modern rubbers and performs particularly well when paired with tacky or Chinese-style rubbers for heavy spin generation. It is frequently compared to high-performance classic 7-ply blades, offering similar utility but with a lighter, more refined feel.

Very similar to the Old Clipper, with very good control and spin.

A masterpiece. Blade is very fast off of the bounce and on drives. It is quite stiff, but not overly stiff. Not many vibrations are felt when making contact with the ball. This blade is excellent for counter-hitting, counter-driving, and smashing. Has decent control, so good to use when looping. Ideal for offensive players.
Blade is also very lightweight, which is a great benefit when playing. It is made of 5-ply wood, which gives it a great feel when gripping. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced players, and is arguably one of the best blades that Yasaka have produced.

It’s incredible how well you can play with this blade, which allows you to execute very soft and precise shots while keeping the ball on the table at all times. Only minor adjustments to your technique may be necessary to achieve optimal results.
