Tibhar Felix Lebrun Hyper Carbon
Blade description:
This blade is a composite model featuring a 5+2 construction. It utilizes an inner-layer carbon design, where the carbon fiber layers are placed directly on the core, paired with limba outer plies. This configuration emphasizes a balance between speed and dwell time, prioritizing looping performance and consistent, stable play.
Playing Characteristics
- Feel and Dwell: The limba outer layer provides a soft touch and extended dwell time, facilitating significant spin generation. The inner carbon arrangement offers a distinct, controlled feel compared to outer-carbon blades.
- Speed and Power: While capable of high power for aggressive looping, it is characterized by its stability rather than extreme raw speed. It offers a low throw angle, which enhances the difficulty of return shots for opponents.
- Balance and Handling: The head dimensions are slightly larger than the standard 150×157 mm, shifting the weight distribution toward the tip of the blade. This design contributes to the blade’s notable stability during blocking and short-game exchanges.
- Versatility: The blade is suitable for both shakehand and penhold styles. It excels in consistent, error-resistant play, particularly in blocking and high-spin offensive strokes.

This is an excellent blade for looping. It’s soft, yet fast. I have used and owned a variety of blades including the Butterfly TB Spirit, TB ALC, Primorac Carbon, Sardius, and Jun Mizutani ZLC.
This blade is faster than both the TB Spirit and TB ALC. The limba outer ply allows for a longer dwell time, which enhances spin generation.
Two of my favorite blades are the Jun Mizutani ZLC and the Felix Lebrun Hyper Carbon. It’s a close call between the two for looping, and I am currently using the FL Hyper Carbon as I slightly prefer it. It’s one of the best blades for power looping.
The workmanship is as expected from a premium blade. Build quality is comparable to Butterfly blades. I am definitely buying another one if it goes on sale again.

The Felix Lebrun blade has a slightly larger head in both length and width compared to the standard 150 x 157 blades. It offers a very solid balance and highly stable performance.
The blade provides great spin and control, but still possesses very good power – enough power indeed! I feel a sense of control and confidence when using this blade. I love it!
I believe the wood plies are limba-ayous-carbon-ayous core. I own both the flared and straight handles. While I gravitate more towards the straight handle, I still like the flared handle as well.
