Tibhar IV-L
Blade description:
This all-wood blade features a unique 4-ply Ayous construction, providing a distinct, soft feel upon ball contact. It is designed primarily for allround play, offering a balance between sufficient speed for offensive shots and high levels of control for the short game, blocking, and service returns.
Playing Characteristics
- Feel and Feedback: The blade offers a unique, soft, and communicative touch, described by users as providing excellent feedback during every stroke.
- Versatility: It performs well across a variety of playing styles, including looping, driving, and hitting. It is particularly compatible with pips-out rubbers and pairs effectively with both tacky Chinese and non-tacky European or Japanese rubbers.
- Stiffness and Speed: While it provides enough speed to support aggressive play near the table, it remains manageable and not overwhelming, making it a reliable choice for players prioritizing accuracy and steady, controlled exchanges.
Physical Attributes
- Handle and Head Geometry: The blade features a non-traditional handle that is wider, thicker, and flatter at the base compared to standard flared designs. The blade head is relatively compact (approximately 150×152 mm), contributing to its lightweight feel and balanced weight distribution.
- Construction: The use of four layers of Ayous wood creates a consistent, soft-touch composition that is distinct from standard 5-ply or 7-ply all-wood blades.

Super weird blade, and I love it! Weird composition—4 plies of Ayous, weird handle (35x23 mm at the end)—longer than usual flared handles and more flat at the bottom, but wider sideways and thick at the same time, though comfortable with a good, soft finish. I really enjoy just holding it. The blade head is also weird since it is smaller than in other blades (150x152 mm). I really like this blade since it fills my hand nicely, it is soft to the touch, the weight balance is great, and it feels very light, especially with soft-light rubbers. Wood is soft with a great feeling of the ball and with sufficient speed, but it is not too fast, so blocks are good as well. Control with this blade is the greatest out of the blades I’ve used; I can’t really put my finger on why. When you hit the ball with it, you feel it; however, it is a strange feeling like you are hitting it with a compressed paper box, but it is great feedback. It also merges well with any rubber you put on it, whether it is Chinese tacky or Euro/Jap rubber, soft/hard—doesn’t matter; all feels great with it. Control is great for beginners with this blade; it is also way cheaper than many beginner all-round blades. If you can get over its strange handle and your hands are below 170x105 mm, I can’t recommend it enough. The only downside I see is that if you cut rubbers to this blade and you want to sell them later, they won’t match any other blade. Good, classic blade with loads of control, good dwell, and sufficient speed, but not overwhelming for a total beginner. Well done, TIBHAR.

Very good classic all blade.
For me the head is too small (only 15.3 cm) and the handle seems to slip off my hand. (Will try soon with an overgrip.)
