Tibhar Samsonov Carbon
Blade description:
This blade is a composite model featuring a 5+2 construction. It is recognized for its high stiffness and significant speed, making it well-suited for aggressive offensive playstyles. The blade is particularly effective for flat hitting, smashing, and rapid blocking at the table, where its compact head size allows for quick reactions and precise directional changes.
Playing Characteristics
- Speed and Stiffness: The blade is characterized by high speed and a stiff, hard feel, producing a distinctive high-pitched sound upon contact. While some users find the speed comparable to top-tier carbon blades, it is generally noted for being less forgiving than more flexible looping-oriented blades.
- Feel and Dwell: Due to its stiff nature and low throw angle, dwell time is limited, which can make consistent looping more challenging. It performs best when paired with hard, tensioned rubbers to compensate for the blade’s lack of internal dwell.
- Versatility: While it excels in over-the-table play—specifically for smashes, aggressive pushes, and fast blocks—it is frequently described as being less effective for play executed far from the table. The large sweet spot contributes to its consistency during direct, high-speed exchanges, though some players may find the overall feedback somewhat lively or inconsistent depending on the rubber selection.

I’ve used this blade extensively and found it to be excellent for blocking and smashing. Surprisingly, it’s also quite suitable for serving and pushing, despite its speed. However, I found it to be overly lively overall and not always consistent.
I’m not entirely sure who this blade is intended for (especially considering the cheaper materials used), but I suppose over-the-table blockers and smashers would appreciate it. I ended up giving mine to a friend who enjoyed playing with it, possibly because his style is similar to Samsonov’s.
It’s worth noting that I had one of the softer Acuda rubbers on the blade, which was definitely not the best choice. Harder rubbers are more appropriate for this particular blade.

I bought it for my friend. He likes this blade very much. It is his second Tibhar Samsonov Carbon. The first blade got very old. I tried it a couple of times. It is a stiff blade. Nice feeling. The outer layer is not soft. I liked its control. This blade is not very fast, not very powerful. Better than many blades I have played. In the future, I am planning to buy it for myself.

This blade is not the best but also not the worst. It is adequate, but if you are an offensive player, you might ask for more. Speed is okay and control is good enough.
