Tibhar Shang Kun Hybrid AC

Blade description:

This offensive blade features a 5+2 construction, utilizing an inner-layer carbon composition to achieve a balanced performance profile. It provides a soft, wood-like feel despite the presence of composite layers, prioritizing precision, dwell time, and a high degree of control for spin-oriented play.

Playing Characteristics

  • Feel and Dwell: The blade is noted for its soft touch and extended dwell time, which facilitates natural topspin execution. While it possesses an inner-layer construction that allows for a solid feel during high-gear shots, it maintains a consistent, controlled response at lower speeds.
  • Speed and Power: Positioned in the OFF/OFF- range, the blade is designed for loopers who prefer close-to-medium distance play. It rewards active, spin-heavy shots rather than flat hitting. It offers “controlled power,” allowing players to initiate rallies safely and accelerate when necessary.
  • Versatility: The blade is highly effective for varied techniques, including opening loops, short-game exchanges, and active blocking. Its balanced nature makes it compatible with a wide range of rubbers, including modern hybrid types, and it is frequently compared to popular inner-layer composite blades for its consistency and reliable feedback.

Best all-rounder/offensive blade with an awesome feel, control, and very soft touch. It offers good speed, great dwell time, and comes at a good price. This blade suits every style of play.

Of all the blades I tested, this one had the best control in all situations. It’s a joy to receive short serves, open with the first attack, or confidently block your opponent’s shots. With hybrid rubbers such as Hybrid MK or K3, it’s super easy to counter topspin your opponent, both close to and far from the table.

There are also many pros who use it. Felix Lebrun, before having his own “Felix Hyper Carbon,” played with the Shang Kun AC. Milosz Redzimski, Cedric Nuytinck, and Alvaro Robles are all players who, at the time of writing, play or have played with it, which vouches for its quality.

One of the easiest blades to execute high-end shots, it offers very high control and precision. Topspin felt natural with this blade.

My game has improved noticeably since using it for a month. This blade is on the same level as Butterfly inner layer ALC. It has a bit more flex at a lower gear than Butterfly. The inner layer is slightly stiffer, however, both blades behave very similarly, almost identically, at high gear.

There is a more solid feel on the Butterfly inner layer ALC at high gear than on this blade, but the difference is marginal. Both are amazing blades, and it’s very hard for me to decide which will be my main one.

Fabulous blade! I’ve sold all my other blades now. The control is exceptional, and I’ve paired it with MX-S on both sides. My teammate uses MX-S and K3, both of which work brilliantly.

I had never tried Tibhar products before, but now I have three of these blades: one for practice, one for matches, and one for testing out rubbers. Just brilliant!
