Xiom Hayabusa ZL Pro - mainXiom Hayabusa ZL Pro - composition

Blade description:

This composite blade features an inner-fiber construction that provides a balanced, offensive-oriented performance. By placing the synthetic ZL-fiber layers closer to the core, the blade maintains a wood-like feedback and a high degree of touch, avoiding the muted sensation often associated with outer-carbon composites. Users report a distinct “metallic click” from the ZL material, contributing to a sharp, precise feel that aids in ball placement and spin generation.

Performance Characteristics

  • Dwell Time and Spin: The blade is highly regarded for its ability to “grab” the ball, offering a significant dwell time that facilitates heavy spin on loops and controlled flicking. The combination of its inner-fiber design and inherent elasticity provides a whipping effect, making it particularly effective for players who utilize Chinese tacky rubbers or modern high-tension rubbers.
  • Speed and Control: While classified as an offensive blade, it maintains a predictable, linear response. It is not overly bouncy in the short game, allowing for precise pushes and blocks, yet it offers sufficient power for mid-to-long distance attacks when the player engages the inner composite layers.
  • Handling and Feel: The blade is noted for its lightweight, balanced distribution, which prevents the setup from feeling head-heavy even with thicker rubbers. The construction is reported to be quite stiff yet flexible enough to produce a noticeable catapult effect. The build quality is praised for its smooth finishing and durability, resisting splintering during repeated rubber changes.

Construction and Compatibility

  • Composition: This is a composite blade featuring a 5+2 construction.
  • Rubber Pairing: The blade is versatile, pairing well with a wide spectrum of rubber types. While it excels with medium-to-hard and tacky Chinese rubbers due to its flex and dwell, it also performs effectively with softer European-style rubbers. The blade’s ability to maintain a consistent feel across different rubber densities makes it a reliable choice for players who enjoy varying their pace throughout a rally.

This blade has nice control and the inner carbon provides enough power only when required. I never felt it was a slower blade. I paired it with Dignics 09C and HellFire X. I liked the handle design and got this at a discounted price. It’s a steal of a deal.

First of all, thanks to the tabletennis11team for always meeting my expectations. This blade is fantastic, weighing 77 grams (as I requested), with a great handle for my average-sized hands and great finishing. I didn’t seal it and glued several rubbers, then removed them for testing, and there wasn’t a single splinter on the surface. The playing characteristics are like any all-wood blade, with good vibration and feedback, along with a noticeable feeling of gripping the ball (catapult effect) that adds more spin, actually tremendous spin, because of the longer dwell time. In terms of speed, it is an OFF blade, not slow by any means. Control-wise, it is good, I would rate it 8/10. I have to adjust my touch to the elasticity of the blade, which is not huge. The power of shots is in the mid-range, not as powerful as hard blades but powerful enough to finish a well-placed ball. Blocking is great, as expected with such an inner construction elastic blade. I am using Hammond Z2 on FH and Hammond Z2 special edition BH, with an overall weight of 176 grams, which is optimal for me. This is a great blade for spin-oriented players. The rotation is superb.

Very easy to loop every ball. High-quality finish, beautiful handle, easy to transition from FH to BH. The blade is quite fast, maybe lower end of OFF, suits medium to hard rubber. The blade feeling is slightly soft, more towards medium. One thing which is noticeable is this blade is super flexy and has a whipping effect so Chinese rubber plays extra good on it, although Euro rubbers are very good as well.
