Xiom Extreme S
Blade description:
Overview
The Xiom Extreme S is an all-wood 7-ply offensive blade known for its high speed, solid build quality, and balanced feel. Constructed with a limba outer layer and ayous core plies, it is often compared to classic 7-ply blades like the Stiga Clipper or Avalox P700, though users frequently note it feels slightly thicker, stiffer, and faster.
Performance Characteristics
- Speed and Power: This is a high-speed, aggressive blade designed for players who prefer a fast-attacking game. It offers linear, powerful performance that is particularly effective for flat hitting, smashing, and direct, aggressive blocks.
- Feel and Control: Despite its speed, the blade maintains good ball feedback and enough dwell time for precise placement. It is described as having a crisp, firm feel with sharp, distinct vibrations during high-power shots. It provides a stable platform for close-to-the-table play, though its performance remains consistent at mid-distance.
- Versatility: The blade is highly regarded for its compatibility with a wide variety of setups, including inverted rubbers, short pips, and long pips. It is a popular choice for offensive players who prioritize blocking and punch-hitting, though it can also accommodate a power-looping game for experienced users.
Ergonomics and Build
The craftsmanship of the Extreme S is consistently praised, featuring a well-balanced distribution that prevents a head-heavy feel, even with heavier rubber combinations. The flared handle is reported to be comfortable, though some users note that the wings of the blade may require minor sanding for optimal comfort. Given its speed and performance profile, it is generally recommended for intermediate to advanced players rather than beginners.

Very good blade, fast with good control.

It is definitely harder and faster than the Stiga Clipper, with less dwell time. It is best suited for advanced players.
As an intermediate player, I found it difficult to handle its speed and control.
Overall, it’s a good blade for 41 euros.

Compared to the Clipper Wood blade, this blade is slightly thicker and stiffer, resulting in better ball control and blocking capabilities, but reduced spin.
Its outer limba layer may be slightly harder than the Clipper Wood’s, yet softer than the Clipper CR’s. This blade is suitable for players who prefer blocking or looping close to the table and can sacrifice some spin for enhanced control.
