Yinhe 983
Blade description:
This Japanese Penhold (J-Pen) blade features an all-wood construction characterized by a notably stiff and hard composition. Users frequently describe the blade as having high speed and significant bounce, resulting in a very solid, board-like feel during impact. Due to this high level of stiffness and the limited dwell time, players often find it challenging to generate loop shots without pairing the blade with softer, high-spin rubbers to compensate for the speed.
Design and Ergonomics
The blade incorporates an innovative handle design intended to align more naturally with the forearm, theoretically enhancing forehand execution. It also features a modified handle shape that can accommodate Reverse Penhold Backhand (RPB) play. While the handle geometry is praised for its potential to improve hand positioning, users note that the finish can be rough, often requiring manual sanding to prevent the handle from cutting into the hand during extended use.
Playing Characteristics
- Performance: Highly aggressive speed profile suitable for dedicated attacking players who prefer a rigid blade.
- Feel: Exceptionally stiff with minimal flex; provides a very direct, solid sensation upon contact.
- Rubber Pairing: Highly sensitive to rubber selection; soft, high-spin rubbers are recommended to counteract the blade’s inherent speed and lack of dwell time.

JUST BUY THE Yinhe 985.
I’ve been playing table tennis for over 10 years, and I’ve used a lot of different blades. But the Yinhe 985 is by far the best blade I’ve ever used. It’s a perfect blade for all-around players who want to be able to control the ball well and also generate a lot of power. The Yinhe 985 is made of a high-quality carbon fiber that gives it a great balance of stiffness and flexibility. It’s also very durable, so you can be sure that it will last for a long time.
If you’re looking for a new table tennis blade, I highly recommend the Yinhe 985. It’s one of the best blades on the market, and it’s sure to help you take your game to the next level.

Hard, stiff & fast as the ratings show… Very little dwell time so it’s not easy to loop with. The handle is a new and more ergonomic design in the way that you can line up the blade with your forearm more than with other pen-grip blades (better for forehand I guess). However, because of the lack of smooth finishing, you need to do some sanding for it not to cut into your hand.
The idea is innovative in the handle and hand position would be an excellent looping weapon, but it’s a pity the composition doesn’t suite.
Maybe they wanted to cheaply test out the design in the market before developing more high end blades with it (the handle)?

This is one of the best blades that I have ever used. I play with Chinese pen, shake hand, and J-pen grips. I own several blades, including a few Yinhe and Butterfly blades. This blade performs on par with the Zhang Jike (C-pen and shake hand grip) and DHS Power PG 9 blades. I love this blade so much that I am currently using it with Xiom Omega IV Pro on the forehand and Xu ShaoFa on the backhand. Due to its modified handle, you can use reverse penhold backhand (RPB) with this blade. I am so satisfied with this blade that I am ordering another one as my backup J-pen blade.
