The Andro Hexer Powersponge is a highly versatile table tennis rubber that excels in providing both spin and control, making it a favored choice among intermediate to advanced players. With a speed rating of 8.3 and an impressive spin rating of 8.8, this rubber is designed to enhance offensive play styles while maintaining a level of accessibility for those still developing their skills. Players appreciate the soft sponge, rated at 1.7 degrees on the hardness scale, which allows for excellent feedback and touch, essential for precision play close to the table.
Tackiness is relatively low at 0.4, meaning the Hexer Powersponge is more suited for those who prefer quick, controlled shots rather than overly spin-oriented play. The lightweight design, weighing in at 3.8 (medium weight), combines with a decent durability rating of 6.6, though some users have reported challenges with the longevity of the sponge itself, citing issues like cracking and tearing when frequently removed from the blade. This rubber shines particularly on all and all-plus blades, lending itself well to both backhand and forehand strokes.
For those seeking alternatives, the Hexer Powersponge can compete with other popular rubbers like the Vega Europe or Hexer+, although user feedback suggests its performance excels particularly in blocking and consistent looping from mid-distance. Overall, the Hexer Powersponge offers an excellent balance of speed, spin, and control, suitable for the offensive player looking to improve their game while still being rated highly for its accessible characteristics.
Review
I believe this rubber is underrated!
Facts:
Comparing older rubbers with current popular ones is intriguing. Most reviews from 2010-2011 may not hold relevance today. I tested this rubber on various offensive synthetic fiber blades (mostly stiff and hard with minimal vibration). On my preferred Stuor Nobilis ZLC blade, I paired it with an Andro Hexer Powergrip SFX in 1.7 mm (42.5 degrees sponge) on my forehand.
Comparison to Hexer Powersponge:
The Hexer Powersponge lacks the spin potential and speed of this rubber but excels for my backhand. It enables effortless return of serves over the table due to its ball-wrapping ability. It offers above-average spin, consistent control, and adequate catapult and speed.
Conclusion:
The Hexer Powersponge has proven its continued relevance in the market.

Addendum:
Your patronage of this seller would be greatly appreciated!
Almost as slow as a classical rubber (Mark V) and comparable spin, but heavier. I tried to use it on FH and it is clearly worse than Vega Europe. It may work on the BH, but there are many alternatives such as Vega Europe that are not worse in any respect and have better spin.
