I believe this rubber is underrated!

Facts:

  • Red rubber, 1.7 mm thickness
  • Packed weight: 86 g, uncut: 58 g, cut (156 x 150 mm): 41 g
  • Yellow sponge, specified as 35 degrees soft
  • Overall hardness: 48.8 degrees due to tight topsheet

Comparing older rubbers with current popular ones is intriguing. Most reviews from 2010-2011 may not hold relevance today. I tested this rubber on various offensive synthetic fiber blades (mostly stiff and hard with minimal vibration). On my preferred Stuor Nobilis ZLC blade, I paired it with an Andro Hexer Powergrip SFX in 1.7 mm (42.5 degrees sponge) on my forehand.

Comparison to Hexer Powersponge:
The Hexer Powersponge lacks the spin potential and speed of this rubber but excels for my backhand. It enables effortless return of serves over the table due to its ball-wrapping ability. It offers above-average spin, consistent control, and adequate catapult and speed.

Conclusion:
The Hexer Powersponge has proven its continued relevance in the market.

Recommendation:

Almost as slow as a classical rubber (Mark V) and comparable spin, but heavier. I tried to use it on FH and it is clearly worse than Vega Europe. It may work on the BH, but there are many alternatives such as Vega Europe that are not worse in any respect and have better spin.

The Friendship Battle II is a Chinese rubber that is a budget-friendly yet provides excellent performance. It is an inverted rubber with a very soft feel. The sponge is also very soft and provides excellent cushioning. This rubber is great for players who are looking for a combination of spin and control.

The Battle II is also a very durable rubber and can last for a long time. It is also relatively easy to maintain and can be cleaned with water and soap.

Overall, the Friendship Battle II is an excellent rubber for players of all levels. It is a great choice for players who are looking for a combination of spin, control, and durability.

One of the better rubbers I have played with. Despite being a soft rubber, the gears are all there for the speed you need.

Boy, is this a SPIN beast! The spin I get on my first balls is pretty deadly and satisfactory. The soft rubber is intentionally highly controllable, making it a very satisfying and attractive option.

Put it on an ALL or ALL+ blade, and you have an excellent combo of spinny do it all setup. Nice on the BH for excellent blocking and control.

The durability of the rubber is pretty decent as well. Definitely a rubber that can ease you into tensors if you are going from intermediate to advanced levels.

I’ve used this rubber for several years and struggle to find a better alternative. Usually, I use Hexer+ on the BH, but recently I’ve been thinking HexerPS might be slightly better.

Review Andro Hexer Powersponge

  • 2.1mm Red on Cornilleau Soft Carbon Off+ Blade with Hexer+

Short Distance:
Excellent all-round rubber for all shots: chop, topspin, or blocks. Can loop in the short game.

Long Distance:
Strong loop shots with the ability to produce heavy spin off topspin blocks or heavier hits.

Topspin:
Good, steady topspin with the ability to counter hit topspin well.

Chop/Push:
Good, steady, consistent push shots with the ability to produce heavy chop or blocked chop.

Comparison - Hexer +:
Very similar with ease to twiddle. Slightly better for loop and short game blocks.

Recommendation:
Suits offensive players.

Perfect rubber for BH if you play with a medium-soft blade, but not recommended for hard blades. (my opinion)

If you don’t play with topspin or looping with your BH (you only use your BH for blocking or looping the first ball after an opponent chop/push), this could be a good rubber for you.

I used Hexer PS for a long time. It has excellent spin and excellent speed close to the table, but lacks gears far away from the table. I reckon this is the perfect rubber for intermediate players, as well as for beginners. 2.1 FH 1.9 BH for beginners IMO.

This rubber provides more spin and control, while still maintaining good speed and power.

I bought this rubber in January and am very satisfied with it.

One thing I did not like about it is the sponge durability.

Every time I take the rubber out from the blade, the foam always tears out, chips, or cracks into pieces.

So the rubber only lasted 1-2 months.

I suppose I will start with the good. This rubber is light, loud, and easy to control both close to the table and away.

The bad: the amount of spin it produces is deceivingly low. My backspin serves that would normally go into the net upon return were coming back high, or my serves were often attacked. My loops had a nice arc and hit the table most of the time due to the control attributes of this rubber, but it was nearly impossible for me to hit a loop kill. Twiddling the blade over to Acuda S3, the same shots carried more spin and made my opponent miss the table more often. In his words, “the powersponge spin is weak.”

In conclusion, this rubber is made for control-oriented offensive players. It is ideal for those who crave longer rallies over quick, powerful points.

Just got it today. It’s fantastic for blocking (however, I’m unsure if this is also due to the new blade I recently acquired). So yeah, I might be a bit biased… Andro Kinetic Supreme OFF- blade is what I’m using. Anyway, it blocks everything back with decent speed and is very consistent and easy to control. Not very spinny rubber but decent speed and great control.

The only drawback is that I’m still having trouble pushing against backspin at the moment. Hopefully, it just needs a bit of getting used to.

I’m very pleased with it and recommend it.

Very good rubber. I use it on my forehand in 2.1mm thickness.

First of all, the sound is incredibly loud, louder than Plasma 380 and even Nimbus Sound, which I’ve played before.

It’s not a fast rubber, but it’s very spinny and has very good control. Opening topspin is easy to drive, just like counterlooping. Sometimes I have a little problem with looping against chop.

For me, it’s a really good offensive rubber, good for forehand and backhand.

This is a balanced rubber that provides very good control. Blocking is very good with this rubber. Looping is consistent, but I felt it was not easy to apply heavy spin while serving. For me, it makes a very good backhand (BH) rubber.

This rubber is very good, just like Hexer. It is versatile and performs well in all aspects. It is great for serving, looping (although the loops won’t be extremely fast), short game, and excellent blocking. This rubber has more control than ordinary Hexer but is slightly slower. Serves are similar, but blocking is better. This rubber is suitable for almost anyone.
