Donic Akkadi Taichi (Red)

Rubber description:

Donic Akkadi Taichi (Red) is a top-quality table tennis rubber designed for serious players seeking exceptional spin and control. With a speed rating of 7, spin rating of 10, and control rating of 8, this rubber strikes a superb balance between these crucial aspects of the game.

Akkadi Taichi employs a tacky surface with a rating of 5, providing exceptional grip and spin generation. This makes it ideal for players who rely on spin-heavy techniques, enabling them to impart massive rotation on the ball. The rubber's tackiness also enhances its ability to control incoming spin, making it easier to counter opponents' attacks.

The sponge hardness of 5.8 contributes to the rubber's overall performance, offering a good balance between speed and control. It provides sufficient responsiveness for dynamic attacking shots while maintaining enough softness to enable excellent touch and control in close-range play.

An outstanding feature of Akkadi Taichi is its high gear rating of 9.3. This indicates its versatility in handling different playing styles. Whether executing aggressive topspins, precise blocks, or deft counter-attacks, this rubber delivers exceptional performance in various game situations.

The throw angle of 4.5 degrees facilitates a lower trajectory, resulting in increased control and precision. Players can maintain a flatter stroke, making it more challenging for opponents to anticipate the ball's path. This low trajectory also enhances the effectiveness of blocking and countering techniques.

Forum reviews rave about Donic Akkadi Taichi's consistency and durability. It is known to maintain its high performance over extended periods, ensuring reliable playability even during intense matches. Additionally, the rubber's durability ensures that it withstands regular use without compromising its playing characteristics.

Overall, Donic Akkadi Taichi (Red) is a formidable table tennis rubber that caters to the needs of advanced players seeking supreme spin, control, and versatility. Its exceptional performance, coupled with outstanding consistency and durability, makes it a top choice for those aiming to elevate their game to the next level.

Giant Dragon Ball BlueSpin

I purchased this rubber because it was only ~$10 on eacheng (also on aliexpress), and I wanted to try it out on my Yasaka Sweden classic (~ALL wood blade). It turned out to be the perfect rubber for the backhand.

I’ve tried several other ~$10 rubbers, and this is definitely one of the best. I even think it’s a bit better than Focus 3 Snipe on a slower blade, which is the main competition in that price range.

I’ve since put it on a carbon blade backhand and a Galaxy N-9 that I set up for a friend. It seems to be a good fit everywhere; very predictable and consistent.

Edit: It seems that the supply of $10 sheets has dried up. It’s still a great rubber, and still affordable, but no longer a superbudget allstar.

Review: Donic Bluefire M2

Rating:

Criticisms regarding the rating of this rubber seem exaggerated.

First Impression:

Upon mounting the rubber on an all-wood blade, the sponge felt firm.

Backhand Performance:

However, in use, the rubber exhibited unexpected qualities. Despite its initial firmness, it felt medium-soft when striking the ball. The dwell time was impressive, allowing for precise shot placement. The combination of spin and control was exceptional, enabling confident flicks against opponent’s serves.

Speed:

While not excessively fast, the rubber provided sufficient speed to challenge opponents. It was rated between 8.9 and 9 out of 10 in terms of speed.

Spin and Control:

Both spin and control were rated between 9.2 and 9.3, highlighting the rubber’s strong performance in these aspects.

Recommendation:

Overall, this rubber ranked among the reviewer’s second-favorite backhand rubbers, just behind the Tenergy 64. It is highly recommended for players seeking an affordable option with excellent spin, control, and flicking capabilities.
