Nittaku Goriki Kaisoku

Rubber description:

This product is a hybrid inverted rubber that exhibits characteristics similar to short pips. It features a medium-soft sponge and is designed primarily for aggressive, flat-hitting styles rather than heavy topspin production. Due to its short dwell time and direct, crisp feel, it offers a distinct, fast-paced performance that favors active, high-velocity strokes over brush-looping.

Performance Characteristics

  • Speed and Dwell: The rubber is notably fast with a very short dwell time. It releases the ball quickly, which makes it highly effective for flat hits, smashes, and aggressive counter-driving.
  • Spin Potential: While capable of producing enough spin for serves and opening loops, it is not geared toward heavy-spin oriented play. The rubber’s “pip-like” behavior often results in a flatter, more direct trajectory.
  • Control and Blocking: It provides a low, disruptive bounce when blocking, which can cause confusion for opponents. It is most effective when paired with all-wood or flexible blades to manage its inherent speed and maintain control.
  • Playstyle Suitability: It is well-suited for backhand attacking, flat hitting, and service returns. Users should be aware that it requires a brief break-in period and may demand precise, tightened technique due to its fast, sensitive nature.

I found it very difficult to loop backspin with this rubber. It seems to have very little dwell time, making it challenging to get the desired spin on the ball.

The throw angle is not as low as advertised when attempting to loop. I often have to close the angle significantly, which results in the balls shooting long.

As a result, I’ve had to tighten my strokes and refine my technique considerably while using this rubber. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it.

This rubber is great for flat hitting. It has a very crisp feeling, and it’s much more direct than other rubbers. It produces a decent amount of spin on the opening loop for the short dwell time it has. If you pair it with fast blades like Primorac Carbon or Mima Ito Carbon, it’s much faster than Tenergy 05/Rakza7/Fastarc to the point it becomes kind of hard to control. So I would recommend a slower blade with a good feeling like Nittaku does.

A very good rubber.
