Stiga Magna TX

Rubber description:

The Stiga Magna TX is an impressive table tennis rubber designed for players seeking a perfect balance between speed, spin, and control. This rubber combines innovative technology with traditional craftsmanship to cater to both aggressive and tactical playstyles. The Magna TX features a high-quality top sheet engineered for maximum grip, allowing players to effectively execute powerful spins while maintaining precision in their shots.

When it comes to tackiness, the Magna TX is moderately tacky, rated at 2.9, which allows for good spin generation without being overly sticky. This makes it easier for players to transition between offensive and defensive tactics. Its weight is classified as medium at 3.4, striking a balance that many players appreciate, as it doesn’t compromise speed or handling. Players will find the Magna TX feels well-balanced during gameplay, giving them an edge on both forehand and backhand strokes.

Durability is a standout feature of the Magna TX, boasting a rating of 9.1. This makes it an excellent choice for players who engage in regular practice and competition, as it withstands the rigors of high-intensity play. The sponge hardness is rated at 6.2, providing a resilient feel while still allowing for sensitive touch shots. Alternatives to the Magna TX might include other high-performance rubbers like the Butterfly Tenergy series or the Donic Bluefire, but players often note that the Magna TX offers a unique blend of speed and spin that is difficult to match.

Overall, the Stiga Magna TX rubber is highly rated, with an impressive overall score of 9.3. Its combination of speed (9.1), spin (9.3), and control (8.8) makes it a top choice among competitive players looking to enhance their game.

A very good rubber. It performs exceptionally well on both the forehand and backhand. There is a lot of speed and excellent spin. Additionally, it has a long lifespan. Overall, it is highly recommended!

Finally, here is my review of this rubber. I agree with the previous review that its performance really depends on the blade. Initially, I applied it to the Donic Waldner USC (OFF-) but found it to be too slow, so I set it aside (2.0mm).

After some time, I decided to give it another chance with the TSP Thriller OFF blade, but I felt it was too fast this time. The spin is good, and it has a medium throw, which made me struggle with my forehand, as my technique in that area is not very strong. The control is nothing special.

On the positive side, the rubber is very light and has a hard sponge, which provides the necessary backup for speed when I smash. That’s a huge advantage. It may even be the perfect rubber for some European-style professional players, so if that describes you, I would recommend checking it out.

Unfortunately, it didn’t meet my personal needs, as I’m looking for more tackiness on my forehand. This rubber is non-tacky, which does not suit my preferences. However, I might consider using it on my backhand once my current backhand rubber wears off. If I do, I will update my review accordingly.

Finally, this is a good rubber. It is strong, but it has a slightly low throw. This means that your forehand technique should be very good. If it is not, it is better to use this rubber for backhand strokes.

The rubber has a very good grip, which is helpful in the short game. I glued it onto a Donic Waldner Ultra Carbon. I believe that a more flexible, yet still firm blade could fit better with this rubber.

Overall, this rubber is not suitable for beginners.
