Tibhar Evolution MX-D is an advanced table tennis rubber designed for offensive players seeking unmatched speed and spin. Notably recognized for its high performance, it combines the explosive characteristics of MX-P with the gripping prowess of MX-S, making it an ideal choice for aggressive playstyles. With a speed rating of 9.3 and spin at 9.2, MX-D truly excels in delivering powerful loops and sharp attacks, accommodating players who thrive on versatility and dynamics in their game.
The tackiness of MX-D is moderate, assessed at 2.1, which offers a balance between grip and controllability. While it does not provide extreme tackiness, its efficient surface allows players to generate substantial spin with well-timed strokes. Weighing in at a medium level, around 6.9, MX-D strikes a balance that helps players maintain consistency without sacrificing power. The durability of this rubber is measured at 7.4, indicating it can withstand heavy usage while still retaining its performance integrity.
In terms of alternatives, players seeking different options might consider the Tibhar Evolution MX-P or MX-S, as they embody different traits—MX-P offers a slightly faster and stiffer feel, while MX-S leans toward more spin and a softer touch. Additionally, rubbers such as Butterfly Tenergy series or Victas V-22 can also provide appealing playing experiences similar to what MX-D offers, depending on individual preferences and playstyles.
This rubber is a monster. I’m used to fast rubbers and hard sponges, but this is the most difficult rubber I have used in a while. It is definitely not for beginners. However, in the right hands, it is unstoppable, especially if you pair it with a hard blade (any outer ALC like Viscaria, for example).
You can choose a softer blade to tame it, but it would be a pity because you don’t buy a fast rubber to tame it, right? So this MX-D, like MX-P, is similar to T05 but spinnier than MX-P and with a couple more gears above T05.
The throw angle is higher than I’m used to, but with a little angle adjustment, I am able to drive and smash with confidence. People say it’s not good for BH, but I found it very pleasant in BH too.
You must be able to do really long, powerful strokes with perfect timing to benefit from this rubber. You must engage the sponge at every shot. As a drawback, I found it quite spin sensitive. Other reviewers say it’s not, but I disagree.
Obviously, don’t even think about playing defensively or passively with this rubber. It’s 100% OFF+. I use it only against opponents who rely on looping, because in loop rallies, it’s more powerful than anything else.
If you want to use it against an opponent who has good defensive tactics or is good at flick or other vicious tricks, you better be a champion at reading incoming spin, or you are doomed (I’m not, so I won’t use it against vicious opponents). If you aren’t that confident in your skills, K3 is a much safer, more forgiving, and versatile option.
Played on off- blade, MX-D max on FH, BH Victas V22 max.
I played with V15 extra max on both sides for a long time, and before that, I had MX-S 1.9-2.1mm on FH. To me, MX-D is the successor to V15 extra. It’s built for counter-offensive play, is low spin sensitive, very linear but powerful, and not for spin-oriented players. It’s simply the best rubber I’ve ever used for counter-topspin. It’s very effective on smash, block, and flick. The throw angle is medium high, but topspin against backspin is easy. The mechanical grip is good, and the ball never slips on the rubber. I don’t feel the 50° of hardness; it’s more like 47°, a little more than MX-S. The only weak point for me is that services have less spin and it’s more difficult to keep the ball short (and I don’t play with an off+ carbon blade…). MX-D is the best counter-offensive rubber on the market, an improvement on V15 extra. If you’re looking for an update of the MX-S, you’ll be disappointed (Victas V-22 is what you want).
The most impressive feature of this rubber is its versatility. It excels in both active play for its speed and active brushing for its spin. Additionally, it boasts remarkable durability and consistency.
When employed in loops, it generates a high, long arc, while for active play, it delivers laser-like precision. Blocks are well-controlled, effortless, and resilient to spin.
Serving may require slightly more effort, but is manageable. The short game is exceptional, though backhand loops require proper technique to execute effectively. Overall, it is a commendable rubber with exceptional qualities.
