Tibhar Genius+ Optimum Sound

Rubber description:

Tibhar Genius+ Optimum Sound is an advanced table tennis rubber designed for aggressive players who prioritize speed and spin in their game. This rubber boasts impressive performance characteristics, offering a speed rating of 9 and a spin rating of 9, making it ideal for powerful topspin strokes and quick counter-hits. The rubber’s medium tackiness (1.3) and soft sponge hardness (1.5) enhance its ability to grip the ball effectively during loops, while the overall weight classifies it as low (3), ensuring it remains light on the paddle for improved maneuverability.

Though the Genius+ Optimum Sound excels in generating spin and speed, players should be aware of its limitations in control and durability. With a control rating of 6, it may not be suitable for all playing styles, especially those focusing on touch shots or short games. The rubber is particularly effective for loopers looking to hit fast winners but can be challenging when attempting more precise plays, such as short pushes. Reviews indicate a tendency for the rubber to produce a pronounced catapult effect, which can lead to less consistent ball placement, especially for beginners or those used to softer paddles.

In terms of alternatives, players seeking similar spin-oriented performance may want to consider the original Tibhar Genius Sound or other popular options like Xiom Omega or Butterfly Tenergy rubbers, which offer different balances of speed, spin, and control. Overall, while the Genius+ Optimum Sound can deliver explosive power and spin capabilities, players must be willing to adapt their techniques to harness its strengths effectively.

Average rubber with average spin, less than Xiom VE. The sponge is very soft, and the rubber plays only by topsheet without sponge support. This makes it difficult to get high speed. It is only suitable for beginners.

Wow, what a catapult effect this rubber has! (On FH, 1.8 mm thickness) I feel like the rubber sucks the ball in, then spits it out like a cannon. The rubber is a bit too soft for my taste, but I am experimenting with it for some time, surely. Furthermore, it is a looping machine. I want to attack and loop all the time. It is a lower-throw rubber compared with Bluefires, which draw higher arcs, so you should adjust your strokes a bit and open the face of your racket more. I feel obliged to try Genius+Optimum because it must be harder for sure.

Slightly faster than Genius Sound, this rubber provides similar spin. While I like this rubber, I prefer the original Genius Sound. I tend to hit the ball off the table more often with this rubber. Overall, this is an excellent forehand rubber for loopers. However, it is not the best for chops and blocks.
