Tibhar Genius+ Optimum Sound

Rubber description:

This tensor rubber features a notably soft sponge combined with a high degree of catapult effect. It is designed primarily for an aggressive offensive style, functioning as a “looping machine” that provides a fast, explosive kick during topspin exchanges. Due to its soft composition, the rubber offers a distinct “glue sound” upon hard contact, characterized by a lower throw angle that requires players to adjust their racket angle compared to higher-arching rubbers.

Playing Characteristics

  • Spin and Speed: The rubber offers high potential for topspin looping and effective counter-attacking against heavy incoming spin. While some users find it fast and reactive, others note that the soft sponge can occasionally lead to a lack of feedback or reduced speed on specific strokes.
  • Control and Touch: It is considered an unforgiving rubber for the short game. The high catapult effect makes delicate shots, such as short pushes and touch-play, challenging to execute. Blocking is generally effective, though consistent performance in the short game and defensive chopping requires significant adjustment.
  • Suitability: The rubber is most effective for players prioritizing offensive topspin play. It is less suited for those who require high control in passive situations or players who prefer a harder sponge for better structural support.

Average rubber with average spin, less than Xiom VE. The sponge is very soft, and the rubber plays only by topsheet without sponge support. This makes it difficult to get high speed. It is only suitable for beginners.

Wow, what a Catapult effect this rubber has! (On FH, 1.8 mm thickness) I feel like the rubber sucks the ball in, then spits it out like a cannon. The rubber is a bit too soft for my taste, but I am experimenting with it for some time, surely. Furthermore, it is a looping machine. I want to attack and loop all the time. It is a lower-throw rubber compared with Bluefires, which draw higher arcs, so you should adjust your strokes a bit and open the face of your racket more. I feel obliged to try Genius+Optimum because it must be harder for sure.

Slightly faster than Genius Sound, this rubber provides similar spin. While I like this rubber, I prefer the original Genius Sound. I tend to hit the ball off the table more often with this rubber. Overall, this is an excellent forehand rubber for loopers. However, it is not the best for chops and blocks.
