The Grass D.TecS in acid green is a long pimpled rubber designed for disruptive defensive play. This rubber is renowned for its ability to generate significant spin reversal and unpredictable ball trajectories, making it a formidable weapon in the hands of skilled defenders. Unlike inverted rubbers, long pips like the Grass D.TecS primarily rely on absorbing incoming spin and redirecting it back to the opponent, often with a reversed rotation. This allows players to create dead balls, float balls, and even generate their own spin variations through chopping and blocking techniques. The bright acid green color is purely aesthetic and doesn’t impact the rubber’s performance.
While speed is not a primary characteristic, the Grass D.TecS allows for controlled blocking and pushing close to the table, as well as aggressive chopping from a distance. Control is paramount, enabling players to manipulate the ball’s placement and spin with precision. This rubber is ideally suited for defensive players who excel at disrupting their opponent’s rhythm and forcing errors. The sponge hardness is typically medium-soft, allowing for good dwell time and enhanced control when absorbing powerful attacks. The D.TecS technology likely refers to a specific pimple structure and rubber composition designed to maximize spin reversal and create unpredictable ball behavior, making it a challenging rubber for opponents to read and attack consistently.
This is quite a beast to tame with more than 1mm of thickness, but great fun to play. Particularly, the attacking strokes are easy to execute even on such a slow and super controllable blade as Tibhar COS3. The chops take time to master but are very linear. The near or at the table game is of particular greatness.
Needs a lot of practice to master. One can get a lot of free points from opponents’ mistakes compared to other long pips. Perfect for a push block style of play.
It will suit me after some practice as I am using long pips for the first time.
