The “Super Defense 40” rubber, despite its unknown manufacturer, is clearly designed with a defensive playing style in mind. The name itself suggests a focus on control and stability. Based on the “Defense” moniker and the “40” designation (which often, but not always, hints at sponge hardness), it is highly likely this is an inverted rubber with a focus on high control and spin reversal capabilities. Expect a relatively slow speed, allowing for precise placement and controlled blocking. While it might not generate extreme topspin on its own, it should be capable of producing deceptive spin variations and absorbing incoming spin effectively. The rubber’s surface is probably designed to grip the ball well for controlled pushes, chops, and blocks, making it ideal for players who prioritize consistency and placement over outright power.
Given its defensive characteristics, the “Super Defense 40” is best suited for defensive players who operate away from the table. These players rely on consistent chopping, blocking, and spin variation to disrupt their opponent’s rhythm and force errors. The rubber’s slower speed and high control would allow for precise placement of chops and pushes, making it easier to keep the ball low and deep. While not designed for aggressive looping, it could be used for occasional counter-attacks or controlled pushes to keep the opponent guessing. Assuming a sponge hardness around 40 degrees (Shore A), it would provide a good balance of feel and control, allowing for effective spin reversal and absorption of incoming power. While specific technologies are unknown without more information, it’s possible the rubber incorporates a slightly tacky topsheet for enhanced grip and spin manipulation.
Quite a slow rubber. This can disturb the opponent’s timing. Good for a defensive game and placing the ball since it is slow and soft.
You would think with a super small sponge it would be spinny. It’s not the lack of sponge that causes it to bounce off the blade with minimal spin. I did not like this rubber, maybe OK for backhand chopping.
Super pour ceux comme moi qui ont de la peine en revers, bloc et défense impeccables.
