Yasaka Mark V AD
Rubber description:
This product is a traditional, non-tacky inverted rubber that relies on mechanical grip rather than surface adhesion. Designed in an era preceding the modern factory-tuned standard, it exhibits a distinct reliance on speed glue to achieve optimal performance. Without external boosters or glue, it is characterized by very low speed and a soft, muted feel that lacks direct feedback upon ball contact.
Performance Characteristics
- Speed and Spin: The rubber is notably slow, providing limited power even when used in maximum sponge thickness. Its spin generation is considered modest, with some users comparing the grip level to that of short pimples rather than modern offensive inverted rubbers.
- Control and Dwell: The rubber features a high dwell time and a medium-high throw angle. While some players appreciate its controlled nature for looping and blocking, others report a âdeadâ feel that makes it difficult to sense contact with the ball.
- Versatility: It performs effectively for controlled, tactical play such as pushing and backspin manipulation. Blocking with this rubber has been described as having an unconventional, almost anti-spin-like quality.
Durability and Suitability
The rubber is recognized for its longevity, maintaining its structural integrity over long periods of use. However, because its mechanical properties fall behind modern entry-level standards, it is frequently criticized for its lack of energy transfer, making it less suitable for a high-speed, modern attacking game unless specifically paired with speed-enhancing adhesives.

Before I review this rubber, I want to make it clear that it was not designed for the modern game. It clearly requires speed glue. However, major brands do not lower their prices or recommendations, so I will review this as a modern rubber.
Firstly, I will discuss the pros, though there are few to mention.
The rubber seems to provide well-controlled pushing (backspin) and blocking. However, the blocking feels more similar to Yasaka Antipower, which I donât believe was intentional. Additionally, it can counter-topspin reasonably well, even with an open angle. It also appears to be durable and can last for years. While it may not retain its original quality, the rubber seems to always have a bit of life in it.
Now, letâs move on to the cons. Firstly, the speed is extremely slow, and it offers no real power. There are bats from Rebel Sport at the high end that have comparable power.
Secondly, it has an exceedingly small amount of spin. Itâs difficult to quantify just how little spin it produces, but I would say it is similar to most short pips.
The rubber also lacks the ability to grip the ball or maintain control while spinning, resulting in very poor looping capability.
As for price recommendation, I suggest $3.50 USD.
You may think this is an exaggeration, but let me explain my reasoning. I recognize that this rubber is not up to standard, and you might assume itâs suitable for beginners. However, to accurately gauge its quality, I applied it to a very cheap blade. On the opposite side of the blade, I used a Tuttle 2013, which is an entry-level rubber available for no more than $10 USD. The Tuttle 2013 provided more spin, more power, more control, and better gripping ability than the Mark V AD, making it a far better option for a beginner. Therefore, it simply doesnât make sense to pay $30 USD for a rubber that fails to compare to a $10 USD alternative. I hope this review helps.

Karet ini benar-benar aneh.
Saya merasa bahwa produk ini sama sekali tidak layak untuk dibeli.

The table tennis rubber offers excellent control, making it suitable for players who prioritize precision in their game. Additionally, it excels at looping, providing impressive spin and trajectory for powerful shots. Overall, this rubber is a fantastic choice for players looking to enhance their skill set on the table.
